Persuasion: Dakota Johnson and Henry Golding in The New Official Images
The new Netflix adaptation of Persuasion stars Dakota Johnson, Henry Golding, Cosmo Jarvis and Richard E. Grant. Jane Austen’s novel, adapted by Ron Bass and Alice Victoria Winslow, is directed by Carrie Cracknell, who makes her directorial debut.
Persuasion follows the story of Anne Elliott (Dakota Johnson), a 27-year-old single woman who reconciles with her old lover, Frederick, after being persuaded by friends and family to end their engagement. Following a match that took place seven years apart, they both get a second chance.

The cast of this new Netflix project also includes Suki Waterhouse, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Ben Bailey Smith, Izuka Hoyle, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Nia Towle. A separate production of Persuasion, starring actress Sarah Snook as Anne Elliot, was developed by Searchlight Pictures. The work has been adapted for the screen numerous times, such as the 2007 film starring Sally Hawkins.
Persuasion of Jane Austen
Published posthumously by the author’s brother, the book tells the story of two young men, Anne, the daughter of a baronet, and Frederick, a naval officer. The two love each other, but the girl is soon persuaded by the family to give up on her lover, who was born too humble. Frederick disappears for seven years; when he returns, he is a rich and influential man, but still full of resentment at being abandoned by Anne. Now a woman, she realizes that she has always loved him, and only after long attempts will she be able to overcome the man’s hostility and resentment.
