William, after taking a boat and traveling alone, meets the Canadian allies whom he joins at Scheldt. Marinus was posted opposite him on the German front and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. At the same time, Teuntje sneaks in with Janna to transmit the map of German positions to the Allies.

The rest is a series of meetings between the three. William is caught by Marinus who does not shoot. William turns to shoot but stops, the two of them being mentally exhausted from it all. Teuntje is captured by the Germans while Janna, who was in hiding, escapes. Janna is also gunned down later, but is found by the Allies, who get the card by healing her.

As the Allies renew their attack with new fervor, Marinus, returning to camp, finds and rescues Teuntje, killing the soldier who was hurting him, but is also shot. Teuntje heals a crying Marinus as he dies. It happens as William arrives on the same stage and the three of us see them having a tragic union. The Forgotten Battle ends on a sad note, as we are told that this battle did not mark the end but was only a steppingstone towards the true end of the war. The Germans in Antwerp are captured as the death toll among the Allies, Germans and civilians scrolls across the screen.
