Grotesquerie: Ryan Murphy Announces New Horror Series with Niecy Nash-Betts

Surprisingly, through his Instagram account, Ryan Murphy shared a teaser that reveals the existence of a series entitled Grotesquerie, planned to debut on FX this fall. The new series from the co-creator of American Horror Story will join the ranks of his horror-themed projects. Although no details about the plot or characters have been revealed at the moment. The teaser, very short and without images, shows us what will be the logo of the series with the title Grotesquerie in white gothic characters on a black background.

Grotesquerie: Ryan Murphy Has Revealed His New Horror TV Series

In the video, we can see the names of the actors who will be part of the cast: Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville. The only thing we can hear is the voice of Nash-Betts (former co-star of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) while she recites a disturbing monologue. In the monologue, in which the character appears to be talking on the phone to someone, she explains that something seems “different now” She says she worked on a crime scene that was so horrific it required shrinks for everyone present. She goes on to explain that even though people say the world is statistically safer, she feels that things aren’t getting better and that something is happening that only she can see.

I don’t know when it started. I can’t understand it. But now it’s different. There has been a change. It’s as if something is opening up in the world, a kind of hole in the center of nothingness. What I saw today… they sent shrinks for everyone who worked at the crime scene. You think: Well darling, evil has always existed, and you cite some statistics about how the world is getting better, less killing, more aid, less global horror, there has never been a better time to be alive, darling”. His voice cracking, Nash-Betts (or rather, his character) concludes by saying: “Go back. Things aren’t getting better. And I keep needing to hear your answers because something is happening around us and no one sees but me“.

Variety reported that the series will debut this fall, although no plot or character details have been revealed at this time. The cast of the series – as revealed by the teaser – will include Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville. In the teaser – without images – you can only hear the voice of Nash-Betts (former co-star of Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) reciting a disturbing monologue while talking on the phone to someone. Ryan Murphy is famous for his versatility, in fact, he is capable of changing the tone and genre of the TV series he works on with extreme naturalness, enjoying one success after another. After having created real media sensations with Popular, Nip/Tuck, and Glee, his love for horror began with American Horror Story, an anthology series now in its twelfth season.
