First Love Season 1 Ending Explained: Do Yae and Namiki End Up Together? Netflix Japanese Series Spoilers

Netflix has made the Japanese series First Love Season 1 available in its catalog, which has been capturing the hearts of subscribers. With a delicate, sad and engaging love story, the plot has everything to be a great success on the platform. At first, the premise of the series follows the lives of Yae and Namiki, who met during high school and fell in love. The series does a real dance between the passages of time and, at first, brings a little confusion between the present day and the past.

The series goes back in time and shows the relationship between Yae and Namiki during high school. The boy, a real troublemaker; Yae, a delicate girl who loved Namiki’s free spirit. At first, the two were clearly in love with each other, but Namiki found it difficult to expose all these feelings to Yae. And it was out of fear of losing her, seeing some boys interested in the girl, that he decided to open his heart and declare himself to Yae.

Now boyfriends, the love between Yae and Namiki didn’t keep them together for long. Difficulties plagued the relationship separating the two. Thus, Yae leaves for adult life being pregnant and Namiki decides to follow her dream in the Air Force of Japan. 

Mending Relationships

The series is coming to an end, and we can see that Yae is determined to mend her relationship with her son. Realizing that her son likes a girl named Uta, Yae decides to befriend her and try to help them. Uta, on the other hand, is about to leave Japan. Yae recalls the challenges and regrets that haunt her relationship with Namiki and leaves for the airport with Tsuzuru to try to fix it all. Tsuzuru is clearly in love with Uta, and his mother would do anything to make this end well.

Thanks to Yae’s acumen behind the wheel, Tsuzuru and her mother arrived just in time. Uta and her lover talked and agreed, the mission had gone very well. At the end of the scene, the two kiss. That’s when Yae thinks once again about her past and decides to put an end to it.

Do Yae and Namiki End Up Together?

Yae gets tired of his life as a taxi driver and decides to put one of his dreams into practice: traveling the world. That way, with the help of friends, he gets 40 days of vacation, which were accumulated, and decides to travel. However, his plans go down the drain when the COVID-19 pandemic ravages the world and makes Japan close its doors. The story returns three years after the pandemic with a world trying to readapt. Tsuzuru and Uta now appear dating and clearly in love with each other. It is then that Yae decides to go in search of her first love.

At first, the woman reads the letters she received from Namiki and decides on her destination: Iceland. Arriving in the country, she seeks information about the only Japanese who lives in the region: her first love. Namiki, on the other hand, works at a small airport in the country and it’s just when she’s about to board that she sees the girl, Yae, heading towards her the two soon hug and kiss. The series ultimately ends with Namiki boarding a plane; he became a pilot for a company. Yae, on the other hand, ends the series alongside Namiki now as a flight attendant as she always dreamed of.
