Director of The Priest | Jofin T. Chacko |
Release date of The Priest | 11 March 2021 |
Hero of The Priest | Mammootty |
After a long wait and postponement, Mammootty’s The Priest reached the theaters. Mammootty is the title of the movie that comes as a priest. Mammootty and Manju Warrier’s co-starrer for the first time have been the subject of a lot of interest since the day The Priest was announced.
The story in The Priest’s horror thriller Zoner, directed by newcomer Joffin T. Chacko, is Joff’s own. Speaking of which, the thread of all haunting movies will be the same, but the highlight of Priest is the screenplay written by Shyam Menon and Deepu Pradeep in a very different and shocking way.
The Priest Story and Review
Mammootty’s father is a hero who is different not only in dress but also in character. Carmen Benedict. Inside the church there is a man who is passionate about parapsychology and enjoys assisting the police in many criminal cases. In parallel with the ongoing suicides in a business family, Fr. The director also introduces Benedict directly to the audience. There are some mysteries awaiting Benedict, who is active in the investigation to help a friendly police officer. Deciding to pursue these mysteries on his own, Fr. The director draws the audience’s attention to the realities unfolding before Benedict.
The film begins with an investigation into a suspected crime and then progresses through mystery and horror. Fr. All these shifts are due to Benedict’s inquiries and discoveries. The screenplay of the film hides some twists that start at a low level and accelerate the narration at regular intervals.
Mammootty is not a challenging character for Fr. Benedict. But Mammootty has brought the intriguing role of a parapsychologist, Pathiri, to the screen with the same curiosity. Initially, Fr. He is the author of Benedict’s. Combining a unique dress and a dog as a companion, Fr. To Benedict. Manju Warrier will play the role of ‘Jhansi’. It is a character that demands Manju’s seniority and talent. Nikhila Vimal’s casting as ‘Jhansi’s’ younger sister ‘Jessie’ is also good. But the best cast in the film is ‘Ameya’, a schoolgirl played by Baby Monica, who plays the center of the narration. If the role was bad, the picture would be bad. But Baby Monica has excelled as a challenging ‘Ameya’ for a child star. One of the good things that Joffin T Chacko has done is that Mammootty and Manju Warrier are not going to just celebrate their stardom in the upcoming movie. The director has not allowed it to grow above the character even though he has used their warmth.
The presence of a debutant director who is completely confident in his medium can be seen in the technical aspects of ‘The Priest’. In Malayalam, The Priest does not show any excessive use of sound or unnecessary fast cutting in some of the films in this genre. Akhil George’s cinematography is perfect for a film that needs to slowly draw the audience’s attention to mysteries. The color palette and movements are perfect for that. The director is also assisted in creating the mood with the background music by Rahul Raj. We are giving this movie three stars out of five.
