Lucky Season 1 Ending Explained (Apple TV): Who Kills Wayne Whittaker?
The surprise at the end comes from Priscilla.
For years she had been completely loyal to Wayne, even after raising Cary, the son they both shared, practically alone. But the young man’s death ends up breaking something inside her. Wayne shows no real pain or concern about what happened, and Priscilla understands that both she and Cary were always expendable pieces in his life.

Lucky doesn’t try to get revenge on John.
Simply accept that you can’t change it.

It’s his first completely honest act after a life built on scams.
Rand recognizes this gesture and understands that Lucky is really trying to fulfill his promise to start from scratch.
Why Does Priscilla Save Lucky?
After eliminating Whittaker, Priscilla allows Lucky and John to leave.
He could kill them, hold them back, or get the money back. Instead, he decides to let them go free and allows them to take the money away.
Cary is behind this choice above all.
Priscilla knows that her son was close to Lucky and understands that, at that point, continuing that war would only mean producing more deaths.
It doesn’t mean Priscilla suddenly becomes a positive figure. The ending keeps all the contradictions of the character intact. But in front of Lucky, he makes a choice that Whittaker would never have been able to make: he gives up control.

In the final scene, however, Lucky voluntarily comes into contact with the water and smiles.

For the first time, she decides where to go.

Lucky was currently conceived and presented as a miniseries, with the seventh episode serving as the story’s conclusion.

the protagonist breaks with her criminal life;

Instead, a narrative line remains open: Rand versus Priscilla.
