Lucky Apple TV Series: The Story Plot

Lucky tells the story of a young woman (Taylor-Joy) who left behind the criminal life she grew up in years ago, but who must now return to embrace her darker, more criminal side for one last time in a desperate attempt to escape her past. This is the official synopsis: “When a multimillion-dollar heist goes awry, con artist Lucky (Taylor-Joy) is forced to flee. Pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, Lucky must fight for her life and to find a way out”.

Lucky Cast and Production?

The protagonist will be Taylor-Joy, the actress made famous by the Netflix series set in the world of chess. Taylor-Joy, who returns to a series after his film experiences with The Menu and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (but on Apple, she was also the protagonist in The Gorge), will also executive produce the miniseries, alongside Reese Witherspoon with her Hello Sunshine and showrunner Jonathan Tropper.

Joining her, the cast also includes Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner.

Produced by Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine, Lucky is conceived, written, and produced by Jonathan Tropper through his Tropper Ink and as part of his deal with Apple TV. Executive producer Cassie Pappas serves as co-showrunner alongside Tropper himself. The series is produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, with Taylor-Joy serving as executive producer through her production company, LadyKiller. Jonathan van Tulleken, who directed the pilot, is also an executive producer.

From Bestseller to TV Series?

Published in 2021, Marissa Stapley’s novel was selected by the renowned Reese’s Book Club, a publishing initiative that in recent years has helped transform several bestsellers into successful television and film productions. The adaptation of Lucky thus continues a strategy now consolidated for Hello Sunshine, increasingly committed to the valorization of women’s stories between thriller, drama, and mystery.

Why Lucky Could Become the Next Top Thriller on Apple TV?

Behind Lucky, we find names that in recent years have contributed to some of the major successes of the platform. The series was conceived, written, and produced by Jonathan Tropper, already author of several projects for Apple TV, while the directing of the pilot episode is entrusted to Jonathan van Tulleken.

Particularly significant is also the involvement of the production company Hello Sunshine, founded by Reese Witherspoon. The study has already signed some of the most popular productions of the platform, including the award-winning The Morning Show, The Last Thing He Told MeTruth Be Told, and Surface.

The first images show a series that focuses on suspense, action, and psychological tension, elements that perfectly match Anya’s talent, Taylor-Joy, already starring in productions such as The Queen’s Gambit and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. If it can keep the promises of the trailer, Lucky could represent one of the most interesting serial thrillers of the summer television season.
