The Continental: John Wick’s Prequel Moved From Starz To Peacock! Here What Happened

The Continental is an upcoming event series, a prequel by John Wick (whose fourth film is expected in 2023) produced by Lionsgate initially for STARZ and STARZPLAY and which will make a lot of talks also for the presence in the cast of Mel Gibson. Surprisingly, in August 2022 it was announced that the 3-night TV series The Continental moves to Peacock, the NBCUniversal streaming platform, which recently bought John Wick’s films.

Executive Producers Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward are writers and showrunners. Albert Hughes will direct 2 episodes and is also an executive producer, the other director is Charlotte Brändström. The series will be structured in 3 event evenings, set in 1975 in New York, in the assassins’ refuge hotel. Lead Colin Woodell plays a young version of Winston Scott who is played by Ian McShane in the films.

The plot of The Continental takes us to 1975, at the center of the origins of the hotel (The Continental) that houses the killers, the hub of John Wick’s world. The protagonist is a young Winston Scott. As he is dragged into hellish New York in 1975, where he faces a past, he thought he had left behind, Winston follows a deadly journey through New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, the meeting point of the most dangerous criminals in the world.

The Continental Release Date

According to Deadline, sources allege that the three-part miniseries would be seen as a more natural choice for Peacock, who also recently acquired the reproduction rights to John Wick’s films, and for Starz’s willingness to focus on his own. brands on products that may have greater appeal among female audiences, such as the Outlander TV series, or that are aimed at a more specific demographic, such as the Power franchise. The Continental, the origin story of the famous Continental Hotel, as the title already suggests, will therefore arrive in 2023 on Peacock.
