Sooryavanshi Review: The Story

‘An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind’; The entire film is based on this statement. From the 1993 blasts to the 26/11 Taj attack; Ajay Devgan’s powerful voice reminds us of the Mumbai attacks. It is also said that the biggest attack is yet to happen in the city. Terrorists had come to India with one ton of RDX during the 1993 blasts. Out of which 400 kg was used in the serial blast at that time, while 600 kg RDX was kept hidden in India itself. Now some sleeper cells of Lashkar have become active again. This time DCP Veer Sooryavanshi comes to save the city from the biggest attack of Lashkar Devoted to the country and best in his work.

Umar Hafeez (Jackie Shroff), the chief of Lashkar sitting in a neighboring country, sends his special men to India to carry out the attack. All terrorists lurk in India for years. Differently, changing their disguise and name. Sooryavanshi slowly reaches out to all the terrorists of the sleeper cell and his old associates Singham (Ajay Devgan) and Simmba (Ranveer Singh) arrive to help him reach the goal.

The Review and Analysis

Director Rohit Shetty’s film is a complete masala entertainer. Rohit has made it keeping the message in mind. The first half of the film seems a bit long, but in the second half, you set out on a ride of entertainment where laughter, action, romance, thrill are everything. As writer-director, Rohit has made Pakistan and Islamic terrorism at the root of the turmoil in his story, while on the other hand has tried to balance it by putting scenes of Hindu-Muslim unity and brotherhood. In the story, while Islamic terrorists have vowed to destroy the country, on the other hand, many Muslim conscientious officers are ready to lay down their lives for the country. In one of the bomb blast scenes, Ganpati is shown being picked up by Maulanas, while on the other hand, as much hatred is for Kasab, as much respect is for Kalam as the dialogues have kept. Some scenes are also childish, which have been consumed in the name of entertainment.

The action and chasing scenes are a sight to behold, although they seem inspired by Hollywood movies, but it gives a heroic feel to your Bollywood heroes in such gory scenes. It is Rohit’s specialty to make his cop heroes memorable by giving them special body language and dialogues. Here comedy has been created by Sooryavanshi by calling people wrong names. The background score is strong. The climax of the film is strong and feel good. On the music front, songs like ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ and ‘Chodo Kal Ki Baatein’ have been recreated in the film, which have become visible.

Sooryavanshi is a paisa vasool movie. Indian cinema halls were missing out on such explosive masala entertainers, which Sooryavanshi has made up for. The film starts in the style of Rohit Shetty and then Akshay Kumar plays the magic of his action. It is nice to see Akshay Kumar acting like a Bollywood hero and speaking dialogues. From the beginning of the film till the end, Sooryavanshi does not let him move. There are many scenes in the film in which one feels like applause. Along with excellent direction by Rohit Shetty and excellent action by Akshay Kumar, the film Sooryavanshi also has great acting by Katrina Kaif, Gulshan Grover, Jackie Shroff and Javed Jaffrey. All these actors have played their characters well.

Sooryavanshi Review: Star Performances

Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi proves to be truly entertainer. From his heroic entry to the scintillating action sequences of the climax, Akshay delivers what his fans want. While his comic timing makes people laugh, his fitness proves him to be a super cop in action sequences. Katrina is frozen in her role. She looks very sexy and glamorous in the iconic song, ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’. When Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgan enter in the second half, the film gets a bit current. This trio of superstars makes comedy fun along with action. The casting of Rohit Shetty is strong, in which actors like Jackie Shroff, Kumud Mishra, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niketan Dheer manage to make an impact in small roles.

Sooryavanshi Review: Technical Aspects

The action choreography designed by Sunil Rodrigues and Rohit Shetty seems to have been shot on a huge scale. But there is nothing new in them. Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan and Ranveer Singh .. all three are adept at giving action scenes; All the three actors have their own unique style, in which they have molded the action sequences as well. From their entry scene to the climax, there are plenty of action sequences in the film. Nonetheless, Sooryavanshi’s background score sets the mood. Jomon T John’s cinematography is impressive. The action sequences filmed from Mumbai to Morrissey look beautiful on screen. The sequence in which Akshay is chasing John (Sikander Kher) is worth watching.

The Final Words

The film’s starcast and cinematography are on the strong sides of the film. Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty have come together for the first time with this film. So, both action and style have their mark. While the script is very weak. There is no novelty or mystery in the story. Also, it hurts not to give importance to the character of Katrina Kaif. Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi has been released in theaters after waiting for almost one and a half years. It would not be wrong to say that this film is made for the big screen. The stark entry and cinematography of the actors work wonders on the big screen. The story of the film is quite weak, but if you are a fan of high voltage action movies, then you can watch it once. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif’s Sooryavanshi gets 3.5 stars from Filmyhype.com.
