Somebody Season 1 Finale Explained: What Happens to Yun-oh?

At first, Kim Sum is a rather introspective, shy woman who dreams of finding love one day. It is for this reason that she decides to create the app called Somebody, alongside her friend Samantha. The application is a success and soon the two begin to profit from it. However, the goal of the new technology to lovingly bring people together ends up taking different paths when a serial killer starts using the app to meet people and kill them. Seong Yun-o, the serial killer, starts to create several fake profiles to circumvent the chances of reaching him. Meanwhile, Sum still hopes that she can find someone who understands and loves her the way she is. While the serial killer almost kills Gi-eun, Sum ends up meeting and falling in love with him.

Gathering Evidence

Seong Yun-o seems to be exactly what Sum was looking for: someone who would understand her and like her for who she was. In this way, the woman began to ignore all the warnings from her friends and the criminal side of her partner, who continues to commit her crimes. Just as the boy doesn’t seem surprised to hear Sum’s dark thoughts, the woman doesn’t listen to the accusations about the boy either.

Therefore, Sum decides not to help Gi-eun and Mok-won, who are strongly committed to making the serial killers pay for their crimes. The sum is aware of the accusations about Seong but remains sceptical and resolves to give him a chance. And although Sum’s friends were committed to incriminating Yun-o, both had no concrete evidence to incriminate the serial killer. However, everything changes when Princess Snacks’ wife’s corpse is found, being a great chance to link Seong Yun-o to the crime.

Does Seong Yun-o Die After All?

While Gi-eun decides to ask for help from the police to arrest Sum’s boyfriend, Samantha, the protagonist’s partner, decides to hunt down the person responsible for the crimes and the bad reputation of the app. In this way, the woman uses the Fingers hacker and gives Gi-eun the information she needed against Yun-o. On the other hand, Yun-o decides to confess his crimes to Sum, which makes the woman open her eyes. Suffering from denial, as she has never spoken openly with Yun-o about her criminal past, Sum comes to grips with reality and realizes the danger that surrounds her. Besides, she knows that the boy’s end is fast approaching.

Therefore, Kim Sum decides that she would put an end to Seong Yun-o’s story herself and kills the boy even before Gi-eun and the police arrive on the scene. Sum thus decides to kill Yun-o and put an end to all his misery by watching him suffer.
