Zac Efron underwent a profound physical change in order to enter the role. The actor recently told Men’s Health that this time around he took a different approach than training for Baywatch. Efron recalled that he “fell into a bad depression, for a long time” after recovering from rigorous training for the 2017 film: “That look from Baywatch I don’t know if it’s really achievable,” he said. “There is too little water in the skin. It’s like it’s fake, it looks like it’s done in CGI. And to achieve this it is necessary to take powerful diuretics. So I don’t need to do that. I prefer to have 2 or 3 percent more body fat“.
