Young Sherlock Season 2 Coming: Prime Video Confirms and Renews Guy Ritchie’s Series?
Just over a month after the release of the first season, Prime Video has announced that Young Sherlock Season 2 will be made; it is, therefore, official to renew the series created by Guy Ritchie and with Hero Fiennes Tiffin (known for the film series After) as the young man Sherlock Holmes. “Young Sherlock possesses that rare magic: millions of fans around the world don’t just watch a detective story, they fall in love with the origins of an icon,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios. “Guy Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill have found the formula to make Sherlock’s early years fresh, dangerous, and utterly compelling and have introduced a compelling performance from James Moriarty that lays the groundwork for what is to come. We can’t wait to see where they take him in season two.”
Young Sherlock Season 2 Coming: Prime Video Confirms and Renews Guy Ritchie’s Series?
This news is not entirely surprising, considering the success of the first season and the ending full of unsolved mysteries. The public, in fact, immediately became attached to this younger and more impulsive version of Sherlock Holmes. Making the renewal even more interesting is the return of Guy Ritchie, who will direct the first episode of the new season, after having already edited the first two episodes of the debut chapter. Also confirmed is Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who will return to the role of the young detective.

As stated by Peter Friedlander of Amazon MGM Studios, the series has won millions of viewers: “Young Sherlock has that rare magic… Millions of fans aren’t just watching an investigative story, they’re falling in love with the origins of an icon.”
The series brought back to the screen an unreleased version of the famous detective created by Arthur Conan Doyle, recounting his youth and the events that helped transform him into the brilliant investigator known throughout the world. The show imagines Sherlock Holmes not like the already established detective of Baker Street, but like a brilliant and impulsive nineteen-year-old still searching for his own identity. Set largely in Oxford, the story begins with a seemingly local mystery and then devolves into a much larger conspiracy of murder, espionage, and family secrets. But the series doesn’t just tell the story of Sherlock’s early investigations: it also explores the origin of the rivalry between Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty, two characters destined to become bitter enemies in classical literature.
Young Sherlock Season 2 Will Be There: The Success Numbers That Convinced Prime Video
In the first 28 days after premiere, Young Sherlock has reached 45 million viewers and ranks among the top 10 original Prime Video seasons of all time. The series reached number one in over 95 countries worldwide, with 63% of its audience coming from international markets and a tremendous success in the UK, India, and Germany. The first season trailer reached 223 million views in its first seven days, breaking the record for the most-watched series trailer ever in that time on Prime Video. The first season quickly earned Certified Fresh certification on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Cast of Young Sherlock Holmes 2: Will Guy Ritchie Direct the First Episode?
In addition to Fiennes Tiffin, the cast of Young Sherlock also includes Dónal Finn (The Wheel of Time), Zine Tseng (The Three-Body Problem), Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale), Natascha McElhone (Halo), Max Irons (Condor), and Colin Firth (The King’s Speech). Guy Ritchie serves as executive producer and will return to directing in the second season, directing the first episode. The series was created for television and executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill, along with executive producers Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, Harriet Creelman, and co-executive producers Steve Thompson and James Dormer. Motive Pictures handles the physical production of Young Sherlock.
What Will Young Sherlock Season 2 Be About?
For now, there is no information on the possible plot of the second season of Young Sherlock. Still, we will certainly see Joseph Fiennes (Hero’s uncle) again as Silas Holmes, Sherlock’s father; Mycroft; and the newfound Beatrice, who the brothers and mother thought was dead but who, in the finale of the first season, had actually been hidden and manipulated for years by the evil Silas himself, whose plan to traffic nerve gas was foiled.
The first-season finale leaves several questions unanswered, especially regarding the fate of the protagonists and the evolution of the relationship between Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty. In the series, played respectively by Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Donal Finn, the two characters are shown in a very different phase of life from that told in classic novels: they are friends, very close to each other. As the plot progresses, however, their friendship begins to crack. The conspiracy at the center of the plot leads Sherlock to discover shocking truths related to his own family. These revelations profoundly change the path of the two young people, slowly leading them towards the destiny that will see them pitted against each other. The season finale closes with a major twist, deliberately leaving room for possible future developments.
Young Sherlock Season 2: What Could Happen?
With the official renewal, the way is now open to Young Sherlock Season 2 previews. The show is inspired by the novels Young Sherlock Holmes, written by Andy Lane, a saga much loved by readers. The first volume of the saga is Death Cloud, from which the first season draws much of the plot. The literary saga includes eight novels in total. This means that the writers of the series would still have a lot of material to adapt for any new seasons. Young Sherlock season 2, specifically, could be inspired by the second book in the saga, Red Leech.
In this novel, Sherlock is sent to live with some relatives in the Hampshire countryside. Here he begins to notice strange movements near a military training camp, just as a mysterious contagion spreads among the regiment’s soldiers. This storyline could offer the series new elements of mystery and suspense, maintaining the adventurous and investigative tone of the first season. The history of Young Sherlock It was conceived from the beginning as a possible television franchise, precisely thanks to the richness of the original literary saga.
When Will Young Sherlock Season 2 Be Released?
Given the state of affairs, the second season of Young Sherlock will be released on Prime Video no earlier than the second half of 2027
