You Season 4 sees an almost total renewal in the cast; in addition to Badgley in fact, only Tati Gabrielle (recently seen in Kaleidoscope) returns in the role of Marianne. Among the new entries, we have Lukas Gage, Charlotte Ritchie and Tilly Keeper. The showrunner duties will again be entrusted to Sera Gamble, who said she has decided to change the location, from the United States to Europe, after watching many European Netflix series during the lockdowns for the Covid-19 pandemic. “Joe will be a fish out of water there, we’ll see how he adapts”, said the author.

You, created by Gamble and Greg Berlanti in 2017 for the American cable channel Lifetime, is inspired by the novels by Caroline Kepnes, You (for the first season) and Hidden Bodies (for the second); in 2018, after the cancellation by the network, Netflix decided to buy the rights to the series to produce a second cycle of episodes.

The series focuses on Joe, a man who, due to a profound trauma, experiences relationships with women in an unhealthy way: when we meet him for the first time, we see him succumb to love at first sight for Beck, a customer of the library of which he is the owner. The man will do everything to crown his sick love dream, using social media to exercise control over the woman and thus satiate his obsession; to achieve his goal of happiness, he will stop at nothing, not even murder: the same pattern will repeat itself every time Joe tries to change his life (and identity) to escape his responsibilities. In this regard, Badgley said: “The tone of this fourth season will be similar to the previous ones, but we want to try to change the structure a bit: one could say that we have almost changed genres”.
