Did you miss Joe? You Season 4 will soon provide you with your daily dose of “weirdness” and mystery. You’re probably here because you’re curious to know more about the upcoming season of one of Netflix’s most popular thriller series. Because deep down you too like to plan like this, always at the top of your game, going further. Well, get ready for another round of escapades and inevitable murder at the hands of Joe Goldberg, er, Professor Jonathan Moore, as the new season is just around the corner. Last we saw Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), he was lurking the streets of Paris in disguise, indicating that he had moved abroad after killing his wife Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), giving away his child and faking his own death. You know, typical Joe Goldberg stuff.
All signs pointed to him going to the City of Lights in search of Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle), his librarian flame who discovered the truth behind his twisted and homicidal tendencies in the season 3 finale. Now new information sheds even more light on the details of the upcoming season, including a new love interest (obsession), location, and more.
Now Based In London, Joe Goldberg Has Somehow Become Professor Jonathan Moore. He has dedicated his life to academic studies and has put aside his “extracurricular activities”, although Marienne is still on his mind. She appears in the clip along with the rest of the season’s all-new cast of students, aristocrats, and possible future victims. Here’s everything we know about YOU season 4 and the trailer released on YouTube:
Joe Becomes Jonathan in Your Season 4
Netflix released the official trailer for Season 4 Part 1 on January 9, giving us a two-minute and thirty-second sneak peek of what to get excited about in the new season. It looks as “juicy” as ever, with plenty of glitz and glamor among Joe’s new “friends.” Joe has a new persona in London, and she seems to be trying to change his life in his sinister ways. This time, he’ll have to taste his own medicine and it’s HE who’s being stalked! From what we can tell, the season will live up to Penn Badgley’s description when he said the tone will be similar to what we know but it’s changing as there’s a different format… It’s almost like we’re slightly changing the Genre. And I think it will work. The genre, of course, is a Giallo, according to Netflix.
While the Season 3 finale shows Joe in Paris, Season 4 will take place in London, where it’s cheaper to shoot, even though part of the season will be set in the City of Love. But when do You Season 4 come out? Season 4 of You will consist of 10 episodes divided into two parts, with the launch of the first half now scheduled for February 9, 2023 (it was originally scheduled for February 10). Part 2 was also brought forward by one day and the remaining 5 episodes will now premiere on March 9th. Filming began on March 21, 2022, in London and wrapped on August 27, 2022.
The hilarious date announcement also came with a video that hooked fans up on what Joe has been up to since we last saw him and introduced us to a pool of new potential victims and suspects in his orbit as he settles in. across the pond. In addition to his signature baseball cap, Joe has worn many hats in the past. From humble beginnings as a librarian, Joe’s career has now evolved into a Ph.D. He meets Professor Jonathan Moore; the new alias Joe has adopted for his life in London.
Riddle for you: Who has two eyes, wears a cap, and uses different aliases to kill people while justifying his crimes in his head? You guessed it, it’s Joe Goldberg and now he’s gone overseas to continue his favorite pastime in an all-new season of You. Based on the books by Caroline Kepnes, You is a psychological thriller that follows the life of Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley). In Season 1, Joe is the manager of a bookstore in New York City when he meets and falls in love with Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), an aspiring writer. Joe’s obsession leads him to haunt Beck as he commits various murders to eliminate anyone who stands in the way of their romance.
In Season 2, Joe runs to Los Angeles to escape his crimes and takes on a new alias, Will Bettelheim. There he meets a chef named Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) and falls back into her old pattern of obsession and murder in an attempt to make her relationship with her work. But Joe soon discovers that there is a dark side to love. By season three, Joe and Love have married and moved to the California suburb of Mother Linda to raise their son, Henry, and escape the previous season’s crimes. However, when Joe slips back into his old ways of obsessing over his next-door neighbor, Natalie, and the local librarian, Marienne, Love takes extreme measures to protect his perfect family.
After Joe got up and left his suburban life in Mother Linda, several new characters are joining the cast for season four. Badgley will of course return as Joe Goldberg under the pseudonym Jonathan Moore, and the recent trailer confirmed that we’ll be revisiting Tati Gabrielle as Marienne Bellamy. Tati Gabrielle as Marienne Bellamy, Joe’s former head librarian and Season 3 obsession. Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts) as Kate, who will be Joe’s latest obsession even though she hated him from the beginning. She may also know her dark secrets Stephen Hagan as Malcolm, an out-of-this-world party boy, and Kate’,s boyfriend. Lukas Gage (Euphoria, The White Lotus) will play Adam, a rich kid and an ex-pat, a gambler, and owner of the club where the group of friends likes to party.
Tilly Keeper (Eastenders) as Lady Phoebe, a popular socialite, and Kate’s best friend. She is also Adam’s girlfriend. Ed Speleers (Outlander) as Rhys Montrose, an eccentric author, and aspiring politician. He worked his way up after being born into poverty and seems to be the most level-headed of the group of friends. Ben Wiggins as Roald, another aristocratic longtime friend of Kate’s who may be hiding her dark secrets. And then again Amy Leigh Hickman as Professor Moore’s literature student, Nadia. Eve Austin as Gemma, arguably the most tone-deaf of Oxford’s elite group of friends. Other new cast members include Niccy Lin, Aidan Cheng, Ozioma Whenu, Dario Coates, Sean Pertwee, Brad Alexander, Alison Pargeter, and Adam James.
The original series was first announced in February 2015 when it was revealed that Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble were developing and writing a TV show based on the book by Caroline Kepnes. Berlanti and Gamble initially pitched the series to Showtime and Netflix but were turned down. In January 2017, it was announced that Lifetime had purchased the show, and in April 2017, the show received a 10-episode direct series order. In July 2018, ahead of the series premiere, Lifetime announced that it would be renewing the series for a second season. But, in December 2018, it was announced that Lifetime had canceled the renewal of the series and that Netflix was picking up the show ahead of its second season. The second season of You premiered on Netflix and was well-received on the platform. It was later announced that You was one of the most popular TV shows on Netflix in 2019.
In January 2020, Netflix renewed the series for a third season which aired on October 15, 2021. Before the third season of the tv series premiered, Netflix announced that it was renewing the tv series for a fourth season. Filming for the fourth season of You began on March 21, 2022, in London and wrapped on August 27, 2022. You is produced by Berlanti Productions, Alloy Entertainment and A+E Studios in association with Warner Horizon Television, now Warner Bros. Television. The show has been nominated for multiple awards including the Saturn Award for Best Streaming Horror & Thriller Series, the MTV Movie & TV Awards for Best Villain, and more. Now, with Season 4 almost here, here’s everything you need to know about, You Season 4 from storyline to release date.
What Could Happen in You Season 4?
You season 3 spoilers from here on out if you haven’t seen it yet. You is defined by its jaw-dropping, unbelievable, and often improbable twists and turns, so it’s a mad task to try to predict what’s in store for London in season 4. Although a solid guess is that Joe commits murder. What we can consider is how season 3 ended: with Joe staging his own death (at the hands of his wife, Love Quinn, played by Victoria Pedretti); killing his wife, Love; leaving his son, Henry, literally on her doorstep – albeit adopted by much better parents – and fleeing to Paris in search of Marienne.
In an interview, Badgley revealed that the next season could be very different… mainly because it could be more about Joe’s relationship with himself. Because this isn’t a show about a killer, this is a show about something more specific. We think it’s taking the mistakes we make in relationships to an extreme for the sake of a good story. Like, we need to lay down our swords and stop being competitive in relationships, but that’s very hard to do. In another interview, Sera Gamble noted that in the fourth season, Joe will also have to deal with the emotional repercussions of Henry’s abandonment. We think she’ll be modeling it from this point forward. And the exact plan for him when and if he would come back for his son is also something the writers will play around with.
The final moments of Season 3 revealed that Joe (Penn Badgley) was alive and well and would therefore live to kill another day. And since Love Quinn was, well, blown up by Joe in the Season 3 finale, chances are she won’t be back for another episode. Victoria Pedretti confirmed it in an interview with Marie Claire, saying: “As far as I know, she is dead”. While Pedretti hasn’t spoken to the showrunners or writers about reprising the role in a flashback or any other capacity, she’s open to the idea. She loved the show and the people she worked with. And this character is amazing, he’s been a blast for her more than once. So yes, she would certainly be interested in returning.
As for Tati Gabrielle (opens in new tab), who played artist/librarian and object of Joe’s season 3 obsession, Marienne, things are less conclusive. Season 3 ended with Marienne narrowly escaping Love’s violent tendencies, but she heeded her advice to leave Mother Linda and never look back. In an interview, Gabrielle could neither confirm nor deny whether she was involved in the new season. But it can be theorized that her character managed to escape California with her daughter, Juliet, in tow.
I think it’s in France, like what he talks about with Joe. We feel she would be like an art teacher or commissioned artist. We’ll just see that she finds the peace she’s been looking for. Make art and let her child have the freest and most lovely life and for them to be happy. We conclude our long roundup on what you need to know about You Season 4 by saying that two weeks after filming began in late March 2021, Netflix has revealed which European city will be Joe’s new home. Rather than the City of Love hinted at the end of season 3, season 4 will be set in London, which the streamer teased with a reading list filled with Charles Dickens and Sherlock Holmes. The cryptic Instagram caption read: Joe is back for some damn good fun. If his book choice tells us anything… our boy may no longer be in Paris.
