Yellowjackets Season 3: Will Be Done Show Renewed For A Third Season

Yellowjackets Season 3 will be done; Showtime has decided to renew the show for a third season. The news was made official three months before the release date of Yellowjackets 2, which will be available from March 2023. Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson and produced by Entertainment One, Yellowjackets was a word-of-mouth success for Showtime a year ago, attracting more than 5 million cross-platform viewers per episode. The series also garnered seven Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Actresses for Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci.

“With the overwhelming success of Season 1 of Yellowjackets and anticipation for Season 2, we wanted to maximize momentum by accelerating Season 3’s airing”, said Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks. “The ambition of the show is only surpassed by its execution, and I thank the incredibly creative team behind it, including Ashley, Bart, Jonathan Lisco, eOne and the Showtime crew, for making this show such a success”.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, in addition to Lynskey and Ricci, Yellowjackets stars Juliette Lewis and Tawny Cypress as former high school soccer players, who survived a plane crash 25 years earlier, who try to keep their lives together while their past – and what they did in the wilderness – threatens to upend the present.

Sophie Nélisse, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher and Jasmin Savoy Brown play the younger versions of the four protagonists. The cast also includes Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole and Kevin Alves. Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell have been set as series regulars for the second season, while Elijah Wood will have a key guest-star role. The second season of the show will be released on March 24, 2023, and a few days ago, Showtime released the Yellowjackets 2 teaser trailer. At this point, we just have to wait a few months before we can get back to dealing with Shauna and Taissa.
