Cape Fear 2026 Series: Release Date and Official Trailer Out?

Cape Fear, a thriller series remake of two released films, is coming to Apple TV in 1962 and in 1991, both literally translated (for once) into Italian as The Promontory of Fear, the same Italian title as the 1957 novel written by John D. MacDonald from which it all began (even though the original novel was instead titled The Executioners). The new psychological horror thriller series was created and executive produced by Nick Antosca, with Oscar winners Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg also serving as executive producers. The latter, a director and executive producer of the 1991 film remake, is also credited. Here’s information on the plot, cast, and release date, and at the bottom, the first teaser trailer for the series.

Cape Fear is one of the best psychological thrillers in the history of cinema. In fact, it is such a compelling story that the original version and its remake (with Robert De Niro as the villain) are classics that marked the history of cinema and that show that human beings can be much more terrifying than any monster. Now, 35 years after the premiere of the version with De Niro (Gregory Peck starred in the original in the ’60s), Cape Fear becomes a series, with a cast made up of outstanding actors such as Javier Bardem and Amy Adams.

The series is one of the most anticipated releases on Apple TV, and expectations are really high, since the service is a platform with a catalog full of great series, of good quality, and with a high level of production (it does not have as many series as others, but all their series are good). The show is a suspenseful story about twisted characters, revenge, and a family that is going through a really dangerous situation connected to a violent and manipulative man who is not going to stop until he destroys everything.

Cape Fear 2026 Series: Who is in the cast?

The series stars and executive produces the Oscar nominee Amy Adams and the Oscar winner Javier Bardem. Completing the ensemble cast are Golden Globe and Emmy nominees Patrick Wilson, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder.

Cape Fear: Story Plot

Inspired by the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, a storm hits happily married lawyers Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the infamous assassin they helped convict and incarcerate, is released from prison and thirsty for revenge. Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television, Cape Fear is based on both the novel The Executioners, which inspired the 1962 Universal Pictures film of the same name starring Gregory Peck, and the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese.

The series is executive-produced by Steven Spielberg, who also produced the 1991 film, along with Scorsese. Creator Nick Antosca serves as showrunner and producer alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey co-produce with Spielberg for Amblin Television. Oscar nominee Morten Tyldum will direct the pilot and also serve as executive producer. Cape Fear is developed and produced under Antosca’s overall deal with UCP, where he has been working steadily since 2017.

The Trailer for Cape Fear

The first trailer for Cape Fear has already been released, and something that should be highlighted about it is the incredible work of Javier Bardem as the villain of this story. Bardem has already played some of the best villains in cinema (one of them in No Country for Old Men), and here we see him as a psychopath seeking revenge on the family that was responsible for sending him to prison.

The trailer for the psychological thriller also confirms that this time the story will include different details and a secret explaining why the villain, who wears contact lenses that make his eyes look almost demonic, is chasing a seemingly perfect family.

Cape Fear: Release Date on Apple TV

Produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, the 10-episode series comes to Apple TV+ with its first 2 episodes on June 5.
