This should have happened, Netflix should have tightened the screws on their series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein in season two of Chaudhary, but no. They have faith in Saurabh Shukla’s creative knowledge. Remember how Saurabh Shukla and Anurag Kashyap twisted ‘Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi’ and pushed ‘Satya’ to Ram Gopal Varma? Poor Sudhir Mishra has not been able to understand to date how his ‘Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi’ ended up in the second-class coupe in front of Ramu’s ‘Satya’. Now Saurabh Shukla has revealed this in season two of the web series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein made under his creative consultancy.

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2 Review: The Story Plot

Season 2 begins with the kidnapping of Purva (Aanchal Singh). Vikrant (Tahir Raj Bhasin) had given Jalan (Arunoday) the task of killing Purva, but Jalan deceives Vikrant and kidnaps Purva instead of killing her. He is demanding ransom from Adhiraj (Saurabh Shukla). Meanwhile, Shikha (Shweta Tripathi) is getting married to someone else. Vikrant now wants to kill Purva at any cost so that his truth is not revealed, and he can live his desired life with Shikha. However, this is not the only thing that matters. Sherpa (Varun Badola), an old enemy of Adhiraj, has also returned. Who has been betrayed by Adhiraj in the past? Now he wants Adhiraj’s death, and he is also the mastermind of Purva’s kidnapping by Jalan. Meanwhile, Purva’s one-sided lover Guru (Gurmeet Choudhary) has also entered the story and can go to any corner of the world to save Purva. Will Vikrant be able to get over Purva? Will Vikrant be able to start his life afresh with his love Shikha this season or will this season bring another storm in his life? This new season answers all these questions.

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2 Review and Analysis

This story of love, betrayal, and passion has become deeper this season. Twists keep coming one after the other in the series. Will Adhiraj come to know about all the games of Vikrant, and will his family be brought to their end? This game keeps going on in the story from the second episode of the series to the sixth episode. Whenever Vikrant is telling a lie. He is bringing a bigger problem with him. From which Vikrant has to get out. This time Purva may not be around him but Adhiraj and his James Bond-like sharp companion Guru and his team are there. This time the matter has more on survival than love. Due to this, this series keeps you engaged from beginning to end.

The story of this series has been told through the voice-over Vikrant’s character. In the role of dialogue becomes important and the makers have done justice to this aspect very well. Dialogues like Do waqt ka maun meri kismat ke liye make the show more engaging. The cinematography of the series does justice to the subject. Talking about the flaws, the problem with OTT content is that the writers and directors assume that the story has to be taken forward in the next season as well. This is what happened in this season as well. Due to this, the story has been wrapped up in a hurry at the end so you have to wait for the next season for its answer. The flaws of the series include the scenes used to add humor through the character of Anant Joshi this season. They irritate more than comedy. By the way, learning from the last season, this season the story has been wrapped up in 6 episodes instead of 8. This is a good aspect. Other aspects related to the series are also fine.

The story of Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein series is told through the character of Tahir Bhasin. With this season, his character has become interesting as well as dark. Different shades have been added to his character and he brings it out well in every scene. Once again, Anchal Singh’s work in the character of Purva is great. However this time she is in the series not as an obsessive lover but as a survivalist. Shweta Tripathi has also been good, but her character needed to be expanded a little more in the series. Arunoday Singh has appeared more strongly on screen this time than in the last season. Saurabh Shukla has once again played his character well. Gurmeet’s character does not have layers, but he has lived his part very well. He is seen doing great action in the series. Varun Badola has also entered this season, but he did not have much to do. Rajeshwari Sachdeva has also appeared in the beginning and last episodes. The rest of the characters do justice to their roles.

Let me give you just one example of how the series has been written and made in such a way. It is like a spoiler. If you want, you can stop reading the review here. There is a scene in the second episode. Akheraj Awasthi’s adopted son Champu from his side is lying unconscious in Shikha’s bathroom on the day of her wedding. Vikrant has brought Betal down from the branch of an old tree and has reached there carrying him on his shoulder. Those who used to get dizzy on seeing blood cut a six-foot-tall man into pieces put him in a bag and walked away as if they had returned from the market after buying cabbage. And God knows what kind of a policeman he is who keeps walking with the same bag in his hand and does not even get a clue that there is a six-foot-tall man in that bag.

Well, just like everyone’s fortunes are good, so should the fortunes of this series be good, this much can be prayed for by the Netflix web series team. It seems that the actors of the series are not on Instagram these days. Just yesterday I was watching a reel that how an actor should not get into the trap of showing his emotions and how an actor should look natural in his character in front of the camera. Here, Thakur son-in-law of Purva’s domineering Brahmin leader i.e. Vikrant Singh Chauhan tries to remain so natural that it does not seem that his life is in danger. Yes, this time the story has taken off the clothes of this character a lot. The hero in the last season is now moving towards becoming a villain and by sharpening the story of Purva’s childhood, the makers of the series have made her wear the garb of a victim.

This time, the writer of the series dug into the story and brought out something like a special agent from its bag. He has been imported from London. It is said that he works with the entire army. He flies drones and aims to be a disciple of Dronacharya. And yes, Awasthi ji’s daughter Poorva also has a foreign lover. So if you thought that the love triangle here is only of Poorva, Shikha, and Vikrant, then you are wrong. On the other hand, our Vikram’s Betaal i.e. Golden has not only spoiled but has washed away all the efforts made by him in the last season. The work of this character is now limited to reading out the names of the people who give the prize in the drama, and no one laughs at his jokes now. Yes, one does get angry at the waste of time.

Like last time, Siddharth Sen Gupta and his team have not made any special suspense series in this season as well. Its suspense is like that of a TV serial of Saas-Bahu and all the actors are seen acting. Whoever has the idea of Varun Badola’s character is very bad. His army seems as if it has shifted from Ramgarh directly to his tent. The series has failed so much in story, screenplay, and dialogues that the audience is not able to connect with any character till the sixth episode. The matter is again hanging in balance, and Netflix’s giants may make its third season as well. But the only thing to remember here is that Thakur had said that there are two! Saurabh Shukla should stop trying to become Gabbar for no reason. He plays the judge of Jolly LLB very well, he should continue doing something like that. The value in the market will remain for a few more years.

This series is amazing, you don’t take your eyes off the screen for even a second. Every few minutes there is a twist and turn, something happens that you don’t expect. This series moves fast and you also move fast with it. The characters change their colors quickly, in the first season the story was just about a crazy girl who goes beyond limits to get a boy. But here things move further, and new characters come which makes this season more interesting. The script is very tight so you don’t find a single scene that is not needed.

Tahir Raj Bhasin has done a wonderful job, here he shows an amazing acting range. From planning his wife’s murder to hiding the truth from his gangster father-in-law and expressing his love for his true love, many shades of him are visible and he is amazing in every shade. This guy acts with his eyes and makes you a fan of his acting in a wonderful way. After a long time, such an amazing performance by a young actor was seen. Anchal Singh’s work is also superb, she is also surprised with her expressions and body language. Shweta Tripathi is also good, although her character should have been given a little more space. Saurabh Shukla has excelled in his role as always, Gurmeet Choudhary’s work is good, and Arunoday Singh is perfect.

Siddharth Sen Gupta’s direction is very tight, he has introduced new characters in a very clever way. He has made the series full of thrills. The scenes have not been dragged on for long, the audience has not been given time to breathe and this is the specialty of this series. It has not been forcibly stretched to 8 or 9 episodes. Overall, definitely watch this series.
