Who Dies and Who Lives in Halloween Kills: The Film’s Violent And No-Discount Ending

Who Dies in the Halloween Kills Finale? Is Michael Myers Human? Is Laurie Dies in Halloween Kills?

The ending of Halloween Kills holds a dramatic surprise for Laurie Strode: who lives and who dies in the second film of the new Halloween trilogy. The second chapter of the new Halloween trilogy led by David Gordon Green seems ready to forever change the nature of his iconic villain the ruthless killer Michael Myers. As anticipated in the spoiler-free review dedicated to the film, Halloween Kills finds time to reflect on Myers’ disturbing ability to survive every injury, ambush or blow inflicted on his body, pushing the character’s boundaries into supernatural territory.

Who Dies and Who Lives

The fascinating theory, however, seems to postpone more concrete answers on the nature (and psychological) of Myers to the third and final chapter of the current trilogy. Provided that someone survives the murderous rampage of Myers: even in the final minutes in fact Halloween Kills continues to update the dramatic count of deaths caused by Michael Myers. The epilogue of the film takes place where it all began: in the house where Michael lived as a child, where some characters will have the audacity to sneak in looking for an answer to the usual riddle: what Myers looked at as a child leaning out of the window of the first floor of his house? What is his adult version looking for today?

Below you will find some of the answers provided by the film’s ending but beware: they contain substantial spoilers on the Halloween Kills plot, so continue only if you have seen the film or you are not bothered by substantial advances on the plot of the same.

Myers Unmasked Cannot Be Stopped

The protagonists of the final sequence are Allison and Karen. The first is part of a punitive expedition that has correctly guessed that Michael is heading to the Haddonfield home where he lived as a child. Introduced into the house after her boyfriend, Allison finds him on the first floor, killed by Michael’s fury. A long fight ensues between the girl and the killer, in which Allison is seriously injured in the leg but tries everything to kill the man. Just as Michael prepares to stab her to death, her mother Karen (Laurie’s daughter) attacks him from behind with a pitchfork, luring him out of the house, saving her daughter’s life and even managing to remove his mask.

The mask is Michael Myers’ weak point: without it he seems incapable of being lethal, confused, helpless. Karen’s is actually a new trap: she is in fact luring him towards an impromptu lynching, sure that Michael will follow her to repossess the mask. Michael is surrounded by about fifteen citizens of Haddonfield, who armed in various capacities proceed to a real collective execution. Unmasked and surrounded, Michael is unable to respond to the assault. The killer is repeatedly hit with unprecedented violence with edged weapons, stunned by clubs and violent punches and kicks.

Karen returns to Michael’s old house and finds herself looking out the window that the child looked out from all those years before he became a serial killer. Here he seems to guess something about the nature of Michael, who in the meantime has come from behind. The man ends Karen’s life. Given that he managed to get up after the violent beating he suffered and put his mask back on again to kill, it seems evident that Michael is no longer human . In the film the hypothesis is advanced that it is now made up of hatred and pure violence, so it is no longer possible to stop it through mere physical force. On the contrary: probably the hatred and fear of his victims make him even stronger, killing after killing.

The film closes with a quick exchange of shots between Michael who just killed Karen and her mother Laurie, still in the hospital. They both look into the room, as if to underline the fact that the third film will be about the showdown between the two. Meanwhile, Allison was taken to the hospital and will probably survive the attack, but she also lost her mother at the hands of Michael.

  • How Does Halloween Kills End?

Karen saves her daughter Allison from Michael Myers’ attack and takes off his mask. The woman lures the killer into a new trap, where about fifteen people try to kill him. An authentic lynching is consummated, but once the mask is put on again, Michael recovers and kills the attackers: his nature is therefore no longer human because no human being could have survived such a beating.

Michael returns to his old home and kills Karen, who was looking out the window he used to look out of as a child.

The film ends with Laurie and Michael looking straight into the camera lens, opposite each other at a distance from the direction: the man has just killed his daughter Karen. The showdown between the two will soon take place.

  • Who Dies in the Halloween Kills Finale?

Laurie’s granddaughter Allison is saved, but her mother Karen dies shortly after, killed by Michael. The killer is lured into a trap by Karen and attacked by numerous armed inhabitants of the town, but he recovers shortly after, confirming the theory that in reality he is no longer human and therefore it is not possible to kill him in a conventional way.

Laurie is safe and sound in the hospital, but she still doesn’t know that her daughter Karen has been killed.

  • Is Michael Myers Human?

In Halloween Kills the hypothesis is put forward that by now in Michael Myers there is nothing more human: once a simple man, Myers has become pure hatred, an entity of violence and terror that cannot be killed in a conventional way and that seems feed on the fear and hatred of its victims, gradually becoming stronger, invincible.

The thesis is confirmed by the film’s ending, in which Michael survives a gang lynching that no normal human would have survived.

  • Is Laurie Dies in Halloween Kills?

No, you save. He remains in the hospital while his fellow citizens attempt to kill Michael Myers. His daughter Karen, however, dies while trying to save Allison: the girl survives, despite a serious injury to her leg caused by Michael, who manages to take Karen’s life.
