Who Are The Illuminati in Marvel? Here Everything Explained From Comics

Thanks to the trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness we have discovered a new and long list of cameos including a variant of Tony Stark called Superior Iron Man. But we also understood that the Time Variance Authority (TVA already known in the Loki series and known to old readers) is not the only organization behind the events experienced by our heroes! On the web and on social networks, the cry “they introduced the Illuminati” immediately appeared.

But Who Are The Illuminati?

The ” Illuminati ” were a secret organization made up of many of Earth’s most powerful heroes: Supreme Sorcerer Doctor Strange, Black Bolt King of the Inhumans, X-Men founder Charles Xavier and mutant rights activist, Reed Richards founding member of the Fantastic Four, Namor king of Atlantis and Iron Man (Anthony Stark), founding member of the Avengers. These six men worked together for an unspecified period to shape and shape the state of the superhuman world and the world around it.

Originally, Tony Stark joined these men together with the Black Panther shortly after the Kree-Skrull War first engulfed Earth. He suggested forming a mega-group that would be prepared to face similar threats by uniting all the super-teams and groups in existence. Eventually, the idea was reduced to a minimum for a secret cabal that would share information and secretly decide how to match all individual groups, with T’challa choosing not to join the group.

The group lasted until Iron Man decided to trick the Hulk into going into space, then sending him away from Earth to a distant planet. Namor then left due to his disagreement with the choice and Professor Xavier disappeared after Scarlet Witch (House of M) warped reality, the group thus disbanded. They reunited once again later, when Iron Man announced the upcoming Superhuman Registration Act and asked everyone to strongly agree in public to prevent a Civil War. (Event name). Once again, the group split when most declared their opposition to the Act, leaving Iron Man and Reed Richards alone.

However, Iron Man summoned the group one last time when the Avengers discovered a Skrull involved in Elektra’s killer. While trying to figure out exactly what to do about the situation, Black Bolt also turned out to be a Skrull and attacked the rest of the Illuminati. This new type of super soldier Skrull almost managed to take out Iron Man and his group, but Namor then managed to kill the alien warrior before that could happen. Iron Man then destroyed two more Skrull soldiers who attacked him, but it was already too late. The alien invaders completed their task of planting the seed of distrust within Illuminati members. Namor was the first to take his leave, and soon the rest followed.

We are still waiting for more confirmations, but surely the trailer for Doctor Strange 2 has sparked a lot of speculation about the future of the MCU, including the possible introduction of the character of Superior Iron Man.

Directed by the writer of the first Spider-Man trilogy, Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is considered the first major Marvel show in the horror genre to boast a stellar cast consisting of Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams and Xochitl Gomez.
