Welcome To Eden Ending Explained: Who is Isaac?
After the party is over, this group of five young people is stranded on the island and begins to look for signs of life, as no one who was at the event meets them. In this way they discover the Eden Foundation, a community that works based on the daily work of all those who are part of it and that pretends to be a paradise for anyone.
That is to say, the true intention of the event was to bring those selected to this happy Foundation, which supposedly seeks to welcome them into its lifestyle. However, the end of the Spanish series shows that reality is much darker and more complicated, showing that the leaders of this community, Astrid (Amaia Salamanca) and Erik (Guillermo Pfening) hide a terrible secret.
The Dark Truth of Welcome to Eden
The last episode of ‘Welcome to Eden‘ shows Astrid and Erik manipulating the selected young people at the party so that they become part of their community and work “for free” for them. If they reject the proposal, they cannot leave the island and they get into serious trouble…even deadly.
At the end of the Spanish Netflix series, Charlie and Zoa are the ones who try to oppose the rules of Eden and as such, they try to escape at the next party. While the former manages to hide on the boat that returns to the port, the latter is unable to do so because when she is about to reach the yacht, she realizes that one of the new guests at Eden’s party is none other than her younger sister: Gaby (Berta Castañé); so she freezes in the middle of the sea without the will to leave because she knows what could happen to her sister, who has only gone there to look for her.
On the other hand, there are also several deaths: that of Ulises (Alex Pastrana), who while trying to stop Zoa from escaping, is attacked by Ibón. Also, Erik has been stabbed at the Foundation and it is discovered that behind all that community, he and Astrid are hiding something terrible: their own family and their only possible son, who seems not sure he is on the island either.
In addition, Africa discovers the data rooms that contain the information about everything that is Eden and also, everything that happens on the island. While trying to get in, she ends up activating an antenna that is located in Astrid and Erik’s family home, something that alerts them to what might become. She is not the only one who has found new things, as a researcher has collected data regarding the party and the entire mysterious organization around it.
Painting Has A Hidden Meaning
In the first episodes of the series, in addition to meeting the protagonists and the plot that will take place in ‘Welcome to Eden‘, a detail appears that only the most curious noticed. It is a painting that Erik, one of the organizers of ‘Eden’, observes while Astrid’s character interrupts him. In the scene, special emphasis is placed on the part of the painting that appears to be a figure of a devil fighting and on the other hand on the part of two men in a boat in the middle of a river.
Well, it is nothing more and nothing less than a recognized painting by the Flemish painter Patinir. ‘The passage of the Styx lagoon’ is a biblical representation of Paradise and Purgatory in a single work. In it you can see the Christian Paradise on the left, in the middle Charon with a person, who represents a soul, arriving at the place where a channel opens on each side of the Styx, and on the right the figure of Hades in the middle of another landscape which is Hell.
Patinir intentionally places the main character of his work right in the middle. This is because the soul he leads must choose one of the two possible paths. However, the way the soul is painted, in profile and with the face and body turned to the right, confirms that he has already made his choice. In this sense, it is clear that the fact that this painting was added to an opening scene of ‘Welcome to Eden’ and that special emphasis was placed on the figure of the devil is not a coincidence. The painting is an allegory of the future of the characters, who will have to make more than one decision that brings them closer to their fatal destiny. Did you notice?
