Wedding Season Ending Explained: Hulu Series! Who Killed Delaneys? What Happened With Katie Is She Dead?

Wedding Season is a new live-action series available in new Hulu and Disney+ releases. Eight episodes of about 30 minutes each that project the viewer into a mystery and an adventure in which a girl, Katie, and a boy, Stefan, must come to the head of big trouble they have gotten into. But let’s go in order and try to understand what happens in the finale of Wedding Season. On the occasion of Hulu Day which is celebrated today, Thursday 8 September, Hulu will release the Wedding Season series. This is the first English original, a dark comedy thriller consisting of 8 episodes already available now and which have a duration varying between thirty and 45 minutes. The series was created by Oliver Lyttelton (Cheaters) who is also the series producer, for Dancing Ledge Production. The eight episodes are directed by George Kane and Laura Scrivano. Between laughter and murder, Katie and Stefan’s escape drags us into a difficult-to-unravel tangle where the twist is just around the corner.

Wedding Season: Story Recap

Stefan (Gavin Drea) is a young doctor in love with love. He is always the favorite guest of every wedding, the perfect best man even if he is too emotional and spends all the ceremonies talking about his disastrous love life of him or looking at the happy couple with shining eyes and dreamy sighs. So fascinated by the idealized vision of relationships that he launches into one story after another, he is blind to the incompatibilities and problems of the couple. It is during a wedding that he meets Katie (Rosa Salazar) and falls madly in love with her instantly. But she is already engaged, and as much as she seems interested in Stefan, she has no intention of leaving her current partner.

Stefan’s life is catapulted into a world ruled by organized crime when he is found the prime suspect in the murder of Katie’s newlywed husband and her entire family, poisoned during the girl’s wedding reception. Wedding Season plays with the stylistic features of the reference genres, creating the right balance between comedy and action. Starting from the cinematic stereotypes exploited for the writing of the characters: Stefan and Katie are specks, protagonists seen and reviewed both in comedy series and in action films, but whose roles are reversed. This reversal is the true soul of the show, the peculiarity that makes Wedding Season bright and fun.

Wedding Season Ending Explained: The Killing of Katie’s Father

Thanks to the sixth episode of Wedding Season, Katie’s plan is finally clear. The flashback shows how her father was killed during her marriage. Katie, then 15, in anger decided to avenge the death of her father. This was killed because she refused to give up her mansion, where she had a pub, to the Delaney business and criminal group who, in turn, had struck a deal with a group called The Block.

The Delaney boys then threatened and stabbed Katie’s father to death. She set up a complex plan to legally obtain ownership of her father’s mansion but first took revenge on the Block henchman, who was present when his father was killed, leaving him naked and bound with handcuffs. to a hotel bed on their wedding day. Katie wanted to kill him but she didn’t go that far as she realized he was a “little fish” only useful for following orders.

Marriage with Hugo Delaney

The next move involved her marriage to Hugo Delaney and the modification of the prenuptial contract, which in the event of Hugo’s betrayal and therefore a divorce gave Katie the right to have her father’s building back. At the wedding between Katie and Hugo, however, The Block has poisoned and killed through their infiltrator in the police that is Agent Metts. She is forced by Katie to confess. The Block wanted to end relations with the Delaneys, so Metts – aware of the story surrounding Katie’s father – poisoned all the Delaneys at Hugo and Katie’s wedding, except for the girl, who would have easily been blamed for the murders.

Of all the Delaneys, Katie only killed Hugo’s father. Coincidentally, the head of the family Delaney drank both Katie’s and Agent Metts’ poisons. The Block’s plan is therefore successful because the Delaneys present at the wedding are dead and the police suspect Katie and her lover Stefan (since the first episode of Wedding Season). With a murder charge on her head, Katie could no longer inherit her property that was due to her. These would go to her uncle, but he too was killed by The Block.

The Affair Between The Delaneys And The Block

All this because Katie’s father’s building was crucial to closing a deal between The Block and a Texan business group. To seal the deal even further and to make it pass as a normal change of ownership, The Block arranged a wedding between the daughter of the head of the Blocks and the son of the Texas mobster. That way everything would go perfectly. But Katie and Stefan decide to sneak into the wedding. Katie gets Metts’ confession to murdering the Delaneys at her marriage to Hugo and kidnaps the Block leader’s daughter.

The epilogue sees an agreement reached between Katie and the leader of the Blocks to free Katie and her friends surrounded by the armed Block army. In exchange, Katia frees her and returns Delaney and her father’s properties to the head of the Blocks to close the deal with the Texans. So eventually Katie gives up on ending her plan to save her life and Stefan’s. Despite everything and this crazy adventure, she fell in love with him and this counts more than her revenge, which in any case, even if she does it, she cannot return her father to her.

The Final Scene

The final scene shows Stefan and Katie in love and happy. As Katie approaches their car it explodes, overwhelming Katie as well. The frame we extrapolated shows exactly the moment of the explosion and how close Katie was. This scene should lead to the second season of the Wedding Season. We will have to find out who tried to kill or killed Katie and what Stefan will do.
