Vought Rising Tv Series: Everything About the Boys Spin-Off Coming on Prime Video?

Vought Rising tv series has been officially confirmed as the spin-off of The Boys, the popular Prime series that premiered in 2019 and already has four seasons and a fifth on the way. The fact is that, initially, The Boys was designed to last only three seasons, but the success of the show convinced the executives to extend the story into a fourth season, which was also quite popular, getting a fifth and final season for this story of eccentric superheroes who, outside of their heroic characters, are arrogant, selfish and corrupt. However, luckily for fans of Homelander and his psychopathic henchmen, this story will not end with the end of The Boys, as a spin-off has already been confirmed that will continue to delve into the story behind this parody of the seemingly perfect universes that have been sold to us in superhero movies (and that our parents have tried to pass down to us).

There’s an inherent contradiction in The Boys development, and that’s how it’s increasingly becoming like the very thing it satirizes. The Amazon Prime Video series, directed by Eric Kripke and also based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, offers a cruel, ultra-violent look at superheroes, with regular digs at the way these characters have cannibalized Hollywood cinema. The problem is, The Boys is also a huge success, so it’s had no choice but to expand with spin-offs and sequels in the purest style of those Marvel Studios and DC franchises that they find so laughable. The Boys already has an animated anthology (The Boys presents: Diabolical) and a sort of university spin-off: Gen V has revealed to us in its first season the process by which Vought’s superheroes become media stars, through a faculty that holds many secrets.

The series had quite a following and its second season was the protagonist of an applauded preview during the Comic-Con that is taking place these days in San Diego. Gen V thus showed the trailer for its second season to the ironic rhythm of David Bowie’s Heroes. But that wasn’t the only news regarding an increasingly powerful brand in the Amazon network. Hall H also hosted another big announcement: The Boys is getting a prequel series. Its title is Vought Rising, and it will trace the origins of the evil corporation responsible for the superhero elite. The story will take place during the 1950s in New York City and its protagonists will be old acquaintances for fans of The Boys: Aya Cash will be present as the Nazi superhero Stormfront after being the threat to beat in the second season of the mother series, and Jensen Ackles will also return as Soldier Boy after having done so in the third season.

What is Vought Rising About?

Vought Rising will center its universe on Soldier Boy, the elected leader of the Vought-sponsored superhero team American Payback, depicted as the first unaged American Supe created by Frederick Vought during World War II, whom Mothers Milk holds responsible for the deaths of her family. The synopsis that has been officially shared reads: “The series follows a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supes known to fans as Stormfront”. For now, we also know that Vought Rising will function as a prequel to The Boys, in the same way that Gen V does, the other spin-off that will return with a second season in 2025. Thus, with the closing of The Boys, scheduled for 2026, its two prequels will follow.

Vought Rising Cast?

During a panel at Comic-Con 2024, it was revealed that Vought Rising will star Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash, aka Stormfront. Additionally, the series will feature The Boys executive producer Paul Grellong. Also, Kripke himself returns to the credits as executive producer and showrunner of the mothership. Like The Boys, the series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Vought Rising Release Date?

Currently, Vought Rising is in the early stages of development, so there is no announced release date yet. Also, it should be noted that the creative team is also working hard on writing the script for the fifth and final season of The Boys, so it will be best to be patient for the release of its prequel. In the meantime, fans of the genre can enjoy other series about telekinesis and powers that they will also enjoy.
