Vikings: Valhalla Trailer and Release Date Out For The Spin-Off Of The Michael Hirst Series

The Vikings spin-off series arrives February 25, 2022 on Netflix

Unexpectedly, Netflix released a brand-new trailer for Vikings: Valhalla, an eagerly awaited spin-off of the hit Michael Hirst series starring Travis Fimmel and Katheryn Winnick. Set about a century after the events of the parent series, Vikings: Valhalla promises to fully explore the traditions and folklore of Viking culture and their inevitable decline.

Vikings Valhalla Release Date

Distant are the heroic deeds of Ragnar Lothbrok, who first gave birth to a golden age for the Norse people, made up of struggles and conquests in the lands beyond the North Sea.

The trailer comes after a first teaser announcing “A new era of warriors” coming to Netflix in 2022 and introduces us to the cast of the new Netflix creature: the legendary Leif Eriksson (played by Sam Corlett, already seen in The Terrifying Adventures of Sabrina), her sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and the ambitious Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter) transport us to a family atmosphere, in which history and mysticism are perfectly intertwined.

Vikings: Valhalla is set in a crucial historical moment for the fate of the warriors heirs of Ragnar, Rollo and his companions: the balance between Norse and the British kingdom is more precarious than ever and war is upon us.

If the focus of the original series – especially in its first four seasons was the theme of travel, the discovery of new kingdoms and cultures and the possibility of creating bonds despite differences (the friendship between Ragnar and Athelstan in the first three seasons of the show is a case in point), Vikings: Valhalla focuses almost exclusively on the need to struggle to survive.

Vikings Valhalla

Precisely for this reason it should not be surprising if, from the first trailer, Vikings: Valhalla prepares us for a series of bloody battles, fought against the backdrop of a world that changes under the helpless gaze of the protagonists.

“London Bridge is about to fall. Vikings: Valhalla reaches a bloody new breaking point on February 25, 2022 on Netflix” reads the caption accompanying the trailer. And it could not be otherwise, because in the northern lands the conflict between pagan and Christian beliefs is becoming more and more impetuous.

To find out how Leif, Freydis, Harald and the other characters in the series will react to the inevitable changes that will come, you just have to tune in to Netflix on February 25th, 2022.
