Unseen is a South African drama and thriller series that arrived in the Netflix catalog and is successful among subscribers, especially among those who like intriguing series. In the plot, we follow Zenzi Mawale (Gail Mabalane), a cleaning lady in search of her missing husband. However, Zenzi ends up at the center of a police investigation into a series of mysterious murders taking place in the city. Despite her innocent appearance and denying any involvement with the crimes, the woman hides some secrets that may be important to the case, and only her cooperation with the police will be able to indicate whether or not she is innocent.
Unseen Season 1: The Story Plot
Zenzi is a cleaner whose life seems to have turned away from her. Her son is dead, her husband Max has been in prison for years for being part of a network of criminals and her work doesn’t give her enough security to be able to pay the rent to the slimy landlord Enrico. But things are about to change: Max has served his sentence and the day of release from prison has finally arrived. Arriving near the prison to welcome him with open arms, Zenzi discovers that her husband has already left prison in the previous hours. No phone calls, no texts, he just disappeared into the wild. Our protagonist will therefore begin to investigate to try to understand where Max may have gone, fearing a settlement of accounts between criminal gangs.
The deeper Zenzi digs to get to the truth, the more her nature will begin to change. Because entering this network of crime, duplicity, and secrets will introduce her to an increasingly dirty, masculine and violent world. Enough to gradually transform her into a murderess. Maxwell, Zenzi’s husband, was freed from prison but never returned home. Zen goes to her boss, Raymond Hendricks, who cared for her while Maxwell was in prison, in search of him. Things are out of hand when she arrives. When Zen cleans Raymond’s office, she finds that the safe is unlocked. She takes a firearm from that point and stands up to Jackson Thom, who was likewise working with Raymond before things went crazy.
She is surprised by Jackson’s candor regarding her husband’s debt when she meets him. Jackson clarifies that everything Max owns, including his wife, will remain his until Max stops paying him. Zen becomes agitated and draws her weapon to defend herself when he charges at her as a result. She makes him laugh when she tries to scare him with the gun sights, but she doesn’t let him down and shoots him in the chest. Zen tries to deal with her decision as he falls, clutching his heart.
Raymond learns that Jackson Thom has passed away from the store. Both are members of the same gang and report to the same boss, Blessing Jali, who is cruel to his employees and causes them to kill each other. He comes across Zen, who is returning the gun to the shop, as he races to determine who killed him and with what weapon. Rather than returning the weapon to the protected, she keeps it with her as protection to ensure nobody hurts her. Raymond shields her from the police officers who have arrived to conduct some inquiries. She gets through, but not before her boss gets a bad idea. For them to hide, he sends a minion after her to retrieve the weapon.

She doesn’t realize she was caught on camera until she is walking home. She will not give up the weapon for anyone because it is now sacred to her. Raymond asks her to kill Blessing on his behalf because he knows she can benefit all of them. If several people started dying suddenly, he would be suspicious.
Zen is also forced to return to her rented house, where the owner makes advances on her and threatens to sell the property if she doesn’t make it worthwhile. To persuade him not to sell the house, she goes to an abandoned building to meet him. He uses the opportunity to assault her, so she pushes him away. He falls off the edge because the building isn’t finished yet, and his head hits the concrete floor. Presently there are three, and there is something else to come. To guarantee that Zen will be safe, Raymond offers to kill Blessing. He won’t be able to resist if she just puts the powder that looks like cocaine next to it.

We find out as the series progresses that the gang member was killed by Blessing because he was about to expose his crimes and the corruption that occurred with the help of the banks.

Because Max was aware of this, he was arrested to settle the situation. Zen, on the other hand, hears Max promise to expose Max’s wrongdoing with the flash drive. She scarcely escapes and kills another person. She learns from one of the officers that her son was killed by Raymond’s gun. She goes to the club to confront him, and during the big argument, she sets the whole place on fire while her hands are tied, and she can’t move. She leaves him there to perish in the fire rather than using the gun to kill him. She jumps from the roof because she has lost all sense of purpose and wants to kill herself. Her sister and the police arrive and try to talk her out of it, but she jumps anyway.
