Uncoupled: Netflix Series with Neil Patrick Harris Cancelled No Season 2 Coming

After just one season, the TV series Uncoupled, starring Neil Patrick Harris, was canceled by Netflix. The news comes after the comedy series failed to crack the streaming service’s Top 10, and producer MTV Entertainment Studios was reportedly already looking for a new home for the project. Despite the cancellation of Uncoupled, Netflix will continue to bring new and current comedies. Star’s other major project, Emily in Paris, continued to draw audiences.

Its third season has already reached the Netflix Top 10 in ninety-three countries, allowing Netflix to renew it for a fourth. The streaming service has picked up several new comedies, including Unstable, Survival of the Thickest, and The Vince Staples Show. In addition, Netflix will release two spin-offs, that 90s Show (based on That 70s Show) and Freeridge, a spin-off of On My Block, as well as the series Girls5eva, the first two seasons of which originally aired on Peacock.

The plot of Uncoupled follows Michael Lawson (Harris), a real estate agent in his forties who lives in New York. After being dumped by his partner of 17 years, Colin (Tuc Watkins), Michael must navigate a world of dating that has completely changed from how he knew it, or remain single for the rest of his life. Friendship is also a central theme of the series, with Michael relying heavily on his colleague Suzanne (Tisha Campbell). The series also stars Brooks Ashmanskas (Julie and Julia), Emerson Brooks (The Last Ship), Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River), Nic Rouleau (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Jasai Chase Owens (The Expanse). In addition to Star and Richman, Harris, Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns serve as executive producers.

News that we certainly regret very much, because Uncoupled had a lot to say and for what little it was with us, it managed to give us a lot. We would have liked to see you continue because you have told the theme of the stubbornness of not wanting to accept the end in any way better than many other products. This time it’s us who don’t accept the end, and who regret a cancellation that we didn’t expect at all.
