Uncharted: Two Post-Credit Scenes Explained? Where is Sam? And Uncharted 2

Although it is easy to recognize an enormous influence of several of the games the first thing that the film of ‘Uncharted’ is that it is an original story. So, even if I keep stealing little plot pills or scenes from the games, we’re not going to interpret the movie in relation to what happens in them (as much as possible at least). Unsurprisingly, Uncharted has a happy ending. First it is Braddock (Tati Gabrielle) who betrays Moncada (Antonio Banderas) and then ends up being Sully’s turning point. Wahlberg’s character ends with her hitting her with his backpack full of gold, choosing to save Nate above all else. To Braddock, who manages to land in the water, the Spanish galleon ends up falling on his head. Although we don’t see her die directly and in ‘Uncharted’ she can go through anything, we can at least say that it is implied that she is dead. And all without Nathan Drake having to dirty his hands against his first two rivals on the big screen.

Uncharted Two Post Credit Scene Explained

More complex is the role and future of Chloe Frazer, character and love interest (or sexual interest rather) of Nathan Drake that we met in Uncharted 2 and from whom we also find a more youthful version in the skin of Sophia Ali. Like Nate and Sully, Chloe is not a villain but a hustler who does not hesitate to betray her friends for keeping the gold alone. After knocking out Nate in Barcelona, the good character demonstrates her evolution by tricking Chloe, leaving her with false coordinates to see if he betrays him. Of course he does and is out of the game.

Chloe will be a valuable companion for Nate and Sully, as she has already been in this first installment, but she will also always be a competitor, a mix (even more so) between Lara Croft and a femme fatale. Here they both leave with a little gold in a plane while they see how Chloe has not found out anything, deceived by the false trail and accepting her defeat against hers, despite everything, her friends. If we look at video games, we know that Nate will end up settling down with the much more honorable, although also uptight, Elena Fisher, but this youthful Nate has and will have a lot to do (and do) with Chloe.

Uncharted Film

But, beyond the fate of Braddock, Moncada or Chloe, as a film of origins, the important thing is to see how little by little Nathan Drake becomes, well, Nathan Drake. Although always humble and with a good heart, Drake begins to earn his stripes by tricking Chloe with the coordinates, but also learning from Sully and taking all the gold he can, one that ends up being the only financial reward for both of them after so much effort. There is also a detail that may have gone unnoticed by viewers who do not come from the video game, that the classic soundtrack of the same sounds only at a very specific moment nears the end. Yeah, it’s the one where Nate puts on his classic brown leather gun holsters on the men and picks up a gun for the first time, completing the “Nathan Drake outfit.”

First Post-Credits Scene Explained: Where Is Sam?

Although we do not know whether to call it post-credits scene or final scene because it appears immediately after the end of the film, only after the appearance of the title, ‘Uncharted’ takes up the secret of its initial plot there. Throughout the film, especially after that prologue in which Nate is 10 years old, we are guided towards his passion and knowledge of pirate treasures through the figure of his brother Sam. In video games we find out in a similar way about the existence of Sam in ‘Uncharted 4’, only on console, Nate and his brother do work together as young people after leaving reform school. But of course, a mission goes wrong and Nate leaves Sam for dead. This one, however, was alive but locked up in a Caribbean prison. It seems that the film takes several elements of this story but with small changes.

This leads us to ask ourselves one thing, why do both Braddock and Sully and Chloe believe that Sam died in San Sebastian? The most likely answer is in video games, again, a fall or a “given dead” that was not. That, or Sully is cheating on Nate again but this option seems to lose weight considering how little our dear Victor Sullivan would gain from it. What is clear to us is that we will know more about Sam in the very likely sequel to ‘Uncharted’, and this is where Sic Parvis Magna comes in and the second post-credits scene.

Second Post-Credits Scene: Almost A Teaser Of Uncharted 2

After meeting the cast of the film we wondered throughout it where the hell the character of Pilou Asbæk is. Well, we have to wait until the scene, this time yes, after the credits. In it, the first thing is to see how Nathan Drake is already totally Nathan Drake. Nate is negotiating with Pilou Asbæk’s character, who tries to trick him by stealing her brother’s ring. Of course, Sully arrives, already with his inseparable mustache, to solve the matter with his partner and leave with both the money and the ring.

Not only do we have to keep that these new villains are looking for Nate’s ring, but also that it belonged to his brother and that, when he left the St. Patrick Orphanage, he promised Nate that he would never leave him as he would never abandon that ring. That ring, then, is the key to finding the treasure of what will be the next adventure in the ‘Uncharted’ film saga, and the one that will unite Nate, not only with the search for the treasure and with new enemies, but also with his brother.

In the video games this ring belonged to Sir Francis Drake and contains the coordinates where to locate his diary, and from there, his treasure. Here, however, the plot may be different. In fact, in the only video game where Drake’s ring is not mentioned is in the room, the only one in which his brother Sam appears. What we are very clear about is that this scene is not an isolated joke to show us the Sully and Drake of video games in all their essence, it is a teaser of what ‘Uncharted 2’ will be if the box office accompanies the first instalment.
