True Detective – Night Country: What Happened to the Missing Scientists?
True Detective – Night Country has already released its second chapter and with it, we discover more details about the Tsalal scientists, their connection to another crime, and what could have led them to end up turned into a huge block of ice, several kilometers from the place where they worked and lived. After Rose discovers the frozen bodies and calls the authorities, Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and her team begin excavating and analyzing the bodies and make a plan to move the block and place it in a safe location where they can properly thaw.
This, in more ways than one, is just the tip of the iceberg, slowly beginning to reveal what may have happened to these men and who, or who could be responsible. The first important detail is that not all scientists are dead. One of them, Lund, begins to scream when he is found and is sent to the hospital, but he is in shock, suffering from hypothermia, and is seriously injured, so he cannot be spoken to find out what happened. Another of them (Clark, who was the one who had the relationship with Annie K and with the spiral symbol) is missing, he was not with the rest, and it is not known for sure if he is alive or dead. And the more the ice melts, the stranger everything becomes.
How Did the Scientists Die in True Detective – Night Country?
Danvers constantly tells Peter (Finn Bennett) to ask the right questions, since only then will they discover the truth, and this is how they begin to propose their theories about what could have happened. Peter points out that the scientists have burst ears, burned corneas, and some have wounds and scratches on their bodies. They were also naked, with horrified expressions, and positioned as if they had been trying to climb over others to escape something.
This leads them to think that perhaps they died of hypothermia since hypothermia causes hallucinations and has a strange effect that makes people feel hot and start taking off their clothes, but that doesn’t explain why they left the station in the first place. or why clothes and shoes were found, which were not theirs and were carefully folded, right next to their bodies. In the first chapter, we see Clark behaving strangely, he is staring at nothing, swinging, and ends up saying “She is awake”, while the people who worked at the station also reported that they had already noticed strange things and that Clark was passing by. a lot of time alone, while the cast member claims to have seen someone, suggesting that it could be one of the ghosts that are usually seen in Ennis, especially in the dark season.
This is True Detective and it probably wasn’t a ghost that caused the men to leave the station and end up frozen. Something scared them, but what could it have been? There is still no answer to that. It is clear that something happened to them and that everything is connected to Annie’s case (we know this because of the presence of the spiral and because of the relationship between her and Clark). Also, being a small community, there are only two possibilities, either one of them is responsible, or the murderer is hiding in Ennis, hoping not to be found. What is clear is that it couldn’t have been easy to get 6 men onto the ice, so there is also the possibility that more than one person was involved or even that some type of drug was used to alter their mental states (because those expressions of horror with which they were found do not happen by accident).
