Is Buell Dead? Is Anna Was Really Crazy? Who Is The Woman In The Final Scene? Everything Explained. The ending of The Woman in the House Across from the Girl by the Window, the Netflix dark comedy starring Kristen Bell, is truly shocking and opens the door to many questions: What will happen to the protagonist?
The Woman in The House Across The Street From The Girl in the Window is Netflix’s dark comedy thriller that mocks psychological crime movies. The title is in fact the union of the cult classic The window on the courtyard by Hitchcock and The woman at the window, thriller film with Amy Adams, released in 2021 on the same platform. In this new series, Kristen Bell plays the role of Anna, a painter unable to overcome the mourning for the death of her daughter, who spends her life stuck in this loop, hallucinating and drinking huge quantities of wine. One evening, mixing a mix of pills and alcohol, the woman is convinced that she has witnessed the murder of her neighbor Di lei.
The finale of the first season left many doubts and questions, which we will try to answer: what will become of Anna? How will we find her in a possible second season?
The Woman in The House Across The Street From The Girl in the Window Ending Explained: Who Killed Lisa?
In a twist-filled ending, we learn that Lisa was killed by little (and not-so-cute) Emma , the nine-year-old daughter of Anna’s neighbor Neil. Apparently, the little girl turns out to be a true psychopath. The killing spree began when her mother announced she was expecting another baby. Jealous, Emma has prepared a trap to make the woman, conspicuously pregnant, drown and make it all seem like a classic and tragic accident. The little girl’s fury didn’t end there. She was the one who pushed her teacher off the lighthouse, guilty of calling her “crazy”.
Then came Lisa When her dad’s new partner refused to buy her some chocolate bars, Emma didn’t think twice about slitting her throat. This was the murder that Anna had seen from her window: in fact the young flight attendant had clung to the glass to ask for help, but she didn’t make it in time, because Emma completed her murder. The trail of blood peaked when he killed Neil as well. His only crime? Emma thought her father couldn’t be a ventriloquist, the hobby he had grown into after Lisa’s death. After a long and almost funny fight, Anna manages to kill Emma.
In order not to be found, the little girl had framed the woman, her neighbor. First of all, she had managed to sneak, with an excuse, into her house, grabbing her checkbook so that she could buy more chocolate; then he stole one of Anna’s spatulas and hid it next to Lisa’s body. When the police found the knife, they then linked the weapon to Anna, who was arrested.
Is Buell Dead?
Anna’s handyman was one of the potential killers, at least before the big twist in the season finale. When our heroine realized her mistake, she found Buell’s body in the foyer of her neighbour’s house: at that point she realized she had made a big mistake in judging him.
The man had been nearly fatally wounded by Emma Fortunately, thanks to the intervention of Anna’s ex-husband Douglas, Buell was saved and is still alive.
Is Anna Really Crazy?
At the beginning of the series, Anna is shown to suffer from severe hallucinations. Proof of this is when she imagines making love to Neil, only to discover that she has drunk too much wine. The potent mix of alcohol and pills often makes her dizzy, causing her to lose touch with reality.
Part of the blame lies with Douglas, a former husband and his psychiatrist who gave her too much of a class 4 anxiolytic. In the latest episode, the two manage to forgive each other for what happened to their only daughter in the past, and reunite.
Who Is The Woman In The Final Scene?
The last scene is set a year later. Anna and Douglas had another baby. While he’s home to assist him, she enjoys a well-deserved vacation by visiting her friend Sloane. On the plane, Anna sits next to a mysterious woman, played by actress Glenn Close. After unsuccessfully attempting to bond with her flight partner, Anna fell asleep. Upon awakening, the woman is gone. He then goes to the bathroom and to his horror discovers that she is there, dead.
Our protagonist is in shock and, after calling one of the flight attendants, she discovers that the body of the woman in the bathroom has disappeared. Is she hallucinating again? Returning to her place, Anna finds a gold compact from the seat next to her, possibly left by the character of Glenn Close. Anna smiles: she has another mystery to solve.
