The White Lotus Season 3: Everything We Know About Season 3 From Release Date to Star Cast

Another season of The White Lotus has ended, and it did so amazingly. The second season of the HBO Max series took us to Sicily with a new group of privileged and dysfunctional characters. Among them, we find Aubrey Plaza, Theo James, Haley Lu Richardson, and Jennifer Coolidge, who was the only character from the first season to return for this second installment.

The season began with the discovery of a body in the water and the revelation that it wasn’t the only one found at the hotel, with the final episode revealing what had happened. And no, Harper didn’t kill Ethan, it was Tanya who, after being manipulated and tricked by “The Gays”, ended up murdering several people on a yacht, before slipping and falling to her death. It was undoubtedly a perfect ending, but it is not the last in the history of this being (which is already one of the best in the history of HBO), since the third season has already been confirmed.

When is The White Lotus Season 3 Will Release on HBO Max?

The first season of the anthology premiered in July 2021 and the second in October 2022, so we can expect to see the third at some point in 2023, although no clear date has been confirmed yet.

Who Is Back For The White Lotus Season 3?

We know characters from one season can show up in the next, as Tanya did, but there are very few people this time around who could. Harper, Ethan, Cameron, and Daphne close their vacation by talking about a possible trip to the Maldives, while Mia and Lucia have thousands of euros they can use to travel, and Portia definitely needs to take a trip to discover herself and get away from everything that it happened to her, but it’s also possible that a new season introduces a whole new cast, so as not to repeat what happened with Tanya and keep the element of surprise.

What is The White Lotus Season 3 About?

As with the first two seasons, we are going to see another of the hotels of The White Lotus chain, where more rich characters will appear who are preparing to have a “relaxing” vacation for a few days. The season will probably start again with the reveal of death and then go back to the beginning to show the situations of the hotel guests until reaching the peak where everything ends in chaos and murder.

According to Variety, series creator Mike White revealed that the following season could be set somewhere in Asia. “Season one featured money, and then season two is sex,” White told Variety. “I think the third season would be maybe a funny, satirical look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round on White Lotus”.

Will the third season take us to the Maldives? It would certainly be interesting to see Harper and Daphne back in action and find out what happens to their relationship after everything that happened in Sicily, but White might have something new lined up, so we just must wait.  What is clear is that there will be many more deaths and that what happens now is going to have to be bigger than the plan to murder Tanya and take her money, and the shocking murders that followed.

As is known, The White Lotus follows an anthological line and the cast of the second season was practically renewed. Despite actress Jennifer Coolidge, protagonist, and actor Jon Gries being the only ones to return for the second season, HBO Max has renewed the entire cast. However, the will of Mike White, creator of the series, is to repeat the partnership with Coolidge as Tanya. According to Mike, Jennifer is essential in the story, and he wants to take her to act in another year of the series. 

At first, the first season of The White Lotus was set in Hawaii, United States. The second season, as well as the complete renewal of the cast, also gained a new location: Sicily, Italy. For the third season already confirmed, creator Mike White also has plans to change at least one continent. After passing through North America and Europe, the third year of the series now aims to venture into the Asian continent, more precisely into Japan.
