The Tailor Season 2: Plot Summary
The first season of The Tailor ended with a cliffhanger that had very little shocking: the protagonist of the series, the famous and esteemed tailor Peyami Dokumacı, was injured following a gunshot fired by mistake by the sweet Esvet, the girlfriend of his best friend Dimitri (the villain of the series) with whom he had fallen in love. No surprise then to discover him, right from the first scenes of this second chapter, in good condition, after a short hospital stay. Unfortunately, however, the troubled and seemingly impossible romance between the two did not take place. The plan to allow Esvet to escape from her boyfriend and tormentor fell apart once the latter discovered the truth about her where the girl was hidden,
Meanwhile, the increasingly tormented Peyami goes through a crisis that leads him to neglect his work (already at risk from an unidentified hand problem) and to seek relief in late nights washed down with alcohol and clubs. It is in one of these places that he meets Cemre, a young woman who is presented to us as the exact opposite of the celestial Esvet, provocative and uninhibited, and with whom he will begin a relationship in full nail-crushing style. Peyami, therefore, seems firmly determined to forget Esvet out of a sort of sense of loyalty towards his brotherly friend (who, we recall, is a kind of sociopath who alternates Mephistophelean laughter with sadistic behavior towards the female gender). The wedding is celebrated, but of course, the triangle resists, also, and above all because of the bond between Peyami’s father and the now ex-caregiver Esvet. And, amid the torments of love, that past reappears which in the first season we had been given a glimpse of in the form of flashbacks and of which we were waiting for the unveiling…
The Tailor Season 2 Ending Explained: Who Is the Woman Who Comes Into Peyami’s Life?
In the final minutes of The Tailor, we see how Peyami confronts his mother after the death of his grandfather, while he must deal with the demons of his past and present. For this reason, she complains to her mother, Kiraz, that she has not been a good mother, however, when living together, Peyami begins to find comfort in her mother. And then she tells her son the truth by confessing that Peyami’s grandmother was the cause of his bad decisions, and although this hurts the protagonist, it also helps to soothe the pain in his soul. But this change is not the only one that occurs since Dimitri has also undergone a strong change in his personality which was cheerful and fun.
However, the events that occurred in the series bring out his controlling and violent side, especially because of how he has mistreated Esvet. And this has also changed since she is a more self-confident woman. The day of the Peyami parade arrives and in it, in addition to making his emotional speech, he introduces his father to the public and we have an important family moment since the protagonist’s parents meet again, which makes him happy. And although we could say that the season closes with a flourish, we realize that the secrets continue to affect everyone. But we also see that there is nothing left of that endearing friendship between Peyami and Dimitri since he considers the tailor a traitor and will surely want to take revenge on him in the future, which could lead to a third season.
Why Did Kiraz Leave Peyami?
In the finale of The Tailor Season 2, Peyami begins to regain control of himself and his predicament. Merit goes in particular to Kiraz, who manages to motivate him by finding the fabric belonging to his grandfather, thus encouraging him to devote himself to his trade as a tailor to which he has always been linked. But Peyami’s well-being is destined to be short-lived: what threatens his equilibrium is Esvet, who reveals that Kamru is her mother (this was one of the pivotal stories of the first season). Osman thus decides to organize a sudden meeting between Peyami and Kiraz (the real name of his mother) so that they can talk to each other and solve their problems. Peyami is initially furious with her for abandoning him, but Osman manages to convince him to listen to Kiraz’s version. She the latter admits to being cowardly to him and surprisingly, reveals that her love for Mustafa was true and sincere. Lei kiraz at that point also tells her that at the time she had been sold to her family to be Mustafa’s caregiver, later being forced to marry him. Peyami’s grandmother, Sülün, wanted Kiraz to have a child with Mustafa, but when this failed, she was kicked out of the house. Only later did Kiraz find out she was pregnant. Peyami so he finally learns the truth about his parentage and solves his problem of being abandoned.
Peyami’s Parents Reunite?
In The Tailor Season 2, we witness two crucial moments in Peyami’s life, both due to his illness. The first is her separation from Esvet, the second is her grandmother’s death. What can relieve him from that state of degradation is to heal old wounds. As a result, the second season slowly sets the stage for a reconciliation of Peyami with her past: in the finale, Peyami decides to organize a fashion show to announce her return, to prove her detractors wrong. However, the real reason for the show is to express her gratitude to her father and make peace with him. The tailor then acknowledges that his shortcomings and the mistreatment suffered by Mustafa have influenced their relationship and his life, and that among the reasons for his emotional problems was his inability to accept the condition of his father, who was tied in a double bind with the abandonment of the mother. In the final bars, Peyami brings Mustafa onto the stage, thus showing everyone who is his father. That is a symbolic moment, in which Peyami indirectly declares that he is no longer ashamed of his parents. Not only: he also reunites Mustafa with Kiraz, completing the family reunion. Unlike the first season, the second season ends on a bright and optimistic note for Peyami, who finally sees the mystery of her parentage solved.
And Peyami, Esvet and Dimitri?
The love triangle between Peyami, Esvet, and Dimitri remains the backbone of The Tailor and continues in the second season as well. Between the three, however, things become more complicated than usual due to Esvet’s marriage to Dimitri, especially since the woman knows that Peyami loves her, but she doesn’t dare to talk about it. Furthermore, Dimitri perceives the tension between the two, which also derives from being aware of their sentimental dynamics. But making things even more complex than they already are the arrival of Cemre, as she proves herself during events worthy of being Peyami’s mate. Ultimately, season two ends without properly resolving the love triangle, which makes up half of the story’s conflict.
