In the wake of the Squid Game phenomenon and Hellbound, the Netflix catalog continues to be enriched with new content from South Korea. Among these we also find The Silent Sea a sci-fi thriller series set on the Moon. Written and directed by Choi Hang-Yong, making his directorial debut, the new k-drama tells the story of an elite team sent on a special mission to an abandoned lunar research base.
The screenplay was co-written by Park Eun-Kyo, who helped adapt Choi Han-yang’s 2014 short film The Sea of Tranquility. The series, announced as early as January 2020, is part of a vast list of South Korean content on which the Netflix leaders have decided to invest around 500 million dollars.

The Silent Sea Plot
The plot of The Silent Sea is set in the distant future, in 2075, in which the Earth was hit by a strong desertification that made it completely sterile. The only hope of survival lies in a team of space explorers, led by Han Yoon-ja, who are sent to the moon.
Their mission is to be able to reach the abandoned Silent Sea station and recover a mysterious champion who could be crucial in saving the Earth and its inhabitants. Also present in the team is the astrobiologist Song Ji-an, who has the task of discovering the truth about the accident in which her sister also died, which led to the rapid abandonment of the lunar base.
