From these premises was born the television series The Secret of the Greco Family, an adaptation for the small screen of the Argentine series “Historia De Un Clan” which in turn was inspired by the misdeeds of the family that terrorized the public life of the South American nation in the 1980s. The showrunner and producer of the Netflix series, however, change the name and surname of the protagonists: Aquiles Greco, the criminal head of the family, is inspired by the truly existent figure of Arquìmedes Rafael Puccio, one of the most ruthless serial killers in the history of Argentina.

First Victim

The series explores the Greco family and shows how bankrupt they are and experiencing major financial problems. As a way of reversing the situation, however, Achilles, patriarch of the family, explains a criminal plan with his sons, who agree. At first, the family’s first target is to kidnap Gael, a rich friend of one of their children, Andrés. So, the family puts the plan into action and kidnaps Gael, but everything can go down the drain when Andrés, Gael’s friend, feels remorse and guilt and reveals his identity.

Meanwhile, Achilles gives instructions to the prisoner’s family to send the ransom amount. However, putting the plan even more in jeopardy, Darío, another son of Achilles, starts to bond with Gael and finds himself affectionate towards the man. However, before the children put everything to risk, Achilles and his henchmen get the money and put an end to the operation. Achilles divides the ransom amount among those involved in the kidnapping. Shortly after splitting the money, the gang kills Gael and returns him to the family completely dead.

Second Victim

In a new life now with the ransom money, Achilles allows himself to travel to France with Lupe and Hugo. However, their thirst for money and his ambition do not allow him to stop the crimes and the gang leader starts to visualize a new victim, Emilio Garay, a famous and very rich polo player. For this, Aquiles intends not to make the same mistakes as in the past plan and decides to invite Gustavo Valbuena, also interested in Emilio’s fortune, to join the group. Gustavo, on the other hand, rethinks the invitation, still with one foot behind the whole plan created by the man.

Meanwhile, Lupe and Hugo end up fighting and the former decides to ally himself with the Greco family. At Achilles’ party, however, Lupe ends up visualizing the target, the player Emilio and wastes no time in killing him. However, the plan is put into practice and the men keep the body while they await the ransom amount. So, Lupe has an idea and incriminates Miguel, the tennis coach who was interested in Hugo’s wife, of having killed Emilio. On the other hand, the gang decides not to send the player’s dead body and buries it inside the forest. The money is divided among everyone, but Gustavo is unhappy with his share.

Third Victim

Excited by the success of his plans, Achilles is already looking for his next victim. After some time, the leader ends up targeting a powerful and fortunate owner of a clothing brand, but the plan goes awry. Parallel to this, Lupe’s body is mysteriously found lifeless in the trunk of a car. Hugo, who is investigating Emilio’s case, is distracted by the investigation when he discovers his friend’s death. During Lupe’s funeral, however, Achilles wastes no time and sets his sights on a new target: the funeral home owner.

The Secret of the Greco Family

Gustavo is called to crime again, but this time the man decides to do things very differently. Acquainted with the funeral home director, Gustavo decides to negotiate alone with the prisoner’s family, bringing the gang’s plan to the brink of failure. On the other hand, Hugo remains determined to discover the whereabouts and mysteries involved in Emilio’s disappearance. Upon arriving at the police station, however, the man sees Gustavo, who is scared and flees the scene. Suspicious, Hugo follows Gustavo and doesn’t even need to pressure Gustavo to reveal everything about the Greco family.

What Happens To The Greco Family?

While negotiations were being carried out by Aquiles and the family of the funeral director, Gustavo gathers all the evidence capable of incriminating the Greco family and their allies and takes it to the police. While the director’s son calls Achilles straight from the police station’s phone booth, police officers break into the hideout freeing the director and arresting Achilles’ henchmen. The entire Greco family is arrested, but the mother and daughter are released, as well as Darío, for not having their names mentioned by Gustavo. Aquiles and Andrés are arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. Unable to deal with the suffering and guilt, Andrés stabs himself to death and Aquiles dies in 2008.
