Netflix’s Geeked Week offers its subscribers a full trailer of the animated film The Sea Beast. A film that has a decidedly “Disnenian” nature, since it is made by the creators of Moana (Oceania). The film is an adventure in the middle of the seas with an improvised couple that is an adult sailor and a girl determined to embark on a dangerous adventure.

The Sea Beast is directed by Chris Williams and is written by Nell Benjamin. Among the original voices are those of Karl Urban and Zaris-Angel Hator, who will play the two protagonists namely the monster hunter Jacob Holland and the little Maisie Brumble. Besides them, there are also Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Dan Steven,s and Kathy Burke. The Italian voices instead are those of Diego Abatantuono, who lends his voice to Captain Crow, Claudio Santamaria, who plays the courageous monster hunter Jacob Holland, and Giulia Stabile, dancer, and winner of the twentieth edition of Amici di Maria De Filippi, with a Vocal cameo as the young Lookout of the Inevitable, the most famous fighter ship.

In an age when terrifying creatures sail the seas, monster hunters are considered true heroes. And the great Jacob Holland is certainly the most acclaimed. But when the young Maisie Brumble clandestinely embarks on her legendary ship, the man surprisingly finds an ally. Together they embark on an epic journey into uncharted waters and make history.

Filmmaker Chris Williams talked about the inspirations of The Sea Beast, citing 16th and 17th century illustrations dedicated to sea creatures. The director defined this as:

The kind of story I’ve always wanted to tell. It is a tale of great adventures, in which the protagonists venture into unexplored places. And in some ways, that’s what I’m doing too.
