The Mother: Story Plot

Jennifer Lopez is a former killer who retires and then returns to take up the arms of her old trade to protect her 12-year-old daughter. In the footage, we see that the FBI proposes a deal with the character played by Lopez, that she will find herself hidden in Alaska and away from her affection. But, when years later, her daughter is kidnapped, it will be so that the protagonist will throw himself in search of her dearest affection, and after having recovered her, she will teach her “how to defend herself”.

The Mother is directed by Niki Caro. The New Zealand director made a splash with her previous work, the live-action reimagining of Disney’s Mulan. While the film suffered a lot from being released during the first few months of the pandemic, audiences were still able to enjoy its spectacular action scenes and enthralling drama, led by a focused performance by Yifei Liu. Caro will now bring her knack for capturing large-scale fight sequences to The Mother, which premieres May 12 on Netflix.
