The Matrix Resurrections: Ending Explained & The Post-Credits Explanation! Spoilers!

The Matrix Resurrections is available in theaters! The Matrix franchise means a lot to a lot of people. It is one of the best action movie franchises and one of the best sci-fi movie series. The films take some on a philosophical journey, which has given rise to several socio-political movements. Others are drawn to the action sequences and the plays. Movies are a pop-cultural phenomenon, and their narrative will always be relevant today.

But perhaps most important is that they tell a deeply personal love story. The romance between Thomas Anderson / Neo and Trinity is validated by both fate and choice, and it remains central to the plot of the first three films. If you need an explanation regarding the end of Matrix Resurrections, we’ve told you everything!

The Matrix Resurrections Ending Explained

The end of Matrix Resurrections begins with a much anticipated meeting between Neo and the Analyst. Their meeting place is the delicious Simulatte Cafe, where Thomas Anderson has received much of his stimulation over the years, via a striking woman named Tiffany who looks eerily like our old friend Trinity.

This Tiffany has invested a lot in the world she sees every day. Neo and the analyst finally put all the cards on the table and decide to let her break the deadlock. If Tiffany decides to stay Tiffany, Neo will return to the Matrix once and for all and become Thomas Anderson again. If she decides to become Trinity, the game is over.

Having seen Moss’ character essentially be lobotomized for most of the movie, what comes next is particularly satisfying. As her husband and kids make a final sales speech, it looks like Tiffany might be coming home with them, however, by the time Neo is whisked away she utters four words that propel the ending of Matrix 4 and possibly other Matrix movies to come saying “My name is Trinity”

Just as Neo and Trinity are about to escape, the Analyst pauses again and decides to take down Trinity and rebuild the Matrix. However, Agent Smith, who is now out of the Matrix’s control, saves the day. He would rather be a free agent than let the analyst matrix continue as it is.

Neo and Trinity escape, but the Analyst puts the population of the Matrix into “swarm” mode. A car chase ensues and the duo arrive on a rooftop, but find themselves trapped by helicopters. They then decide to jump off the roof and surprise Trinity flies! They escape and wake up in the real world, together again. The end of The Matrix Resurrections sees Neo and Trinity flying around the Matrix, and they meet the Analyst in his house. They promise to start clearing people’s minds and rebuilding the Matrix in their image. They fly into the camera and the film ends giving way to a post-credits scene.

Matrix 4 Post-Credits Scene Explained

The first thing you will notice is that when the title Matrix Resurrections is projected on the screen, it becomes Matrix Resurrects. Could this be the title of the next potential film? As at the end of the original film, the last moments are punctuated by the rebellious rock of “Wake Up”. But this time, instead of the original version of Rage Against the Machine, it’s a band called Brass Against who cover the song, with help from Sophia Urista.

Unfortunately, the post-credits scene in Matrix 4 is a real bummer, essentially a joke from “Scrooged”. When the headlines come up and the screen lights up again, we’re transported to Thomas Anderson’s former workplace, where his uninspired team are still debating new marketing ideas and ways to capitalize on the Matrix franchise. They’re talking about video games, of course, but like in the previous scenes, it’s all very meta. Their solution? Create programs for felines. Unfortunately, there is no rimshot after this line. Honestly, it looks like a cut scene… which should have stayed cut.

How Are Neo And Trinity Alive? Why Does Trinity Have Powers?

The machines discovered that Neo’s powers helped create the Ultimate Matrix. They repair her and Trinity’s body, reestablishing Neo’s location after being blinded during Matrix Revolutions, and reconnect them. However, the machines make sure that Neo’s powers are not restored by giving him blue pills.

Trinity, on the other hand, is also kept alive, as the bond between Neo and her is very strong. At one point, we learn that Trinity can see slightly into the future as she has visions of the final sequence in the Simulatte cafe. Could she be a new Oracle?

At the end of The Matrix Resurrections, Trinity appears to have the same powers as The One. Like Neo, she understands the Matrix and was used to create this new version of the system. Their love helped them break free. It seems that her existence and Neo’s are so closely linked that she has the same powers. There’s even a chance that, in this new version of the Matrix, she’s the One, or maybe they both are.
