The Mandalorian Season 3: Release Date and Everything We Know About the Third Season
The die is cast. On March 1, 2023, it finally arrives streaming on Disney+ The Mandalorian Season 3, the TV series which, since the Star Wars universe arrived on the platform, has managed more than any other to warm our hearts and make our imaginations travel. Thus, we finally return to that far-distant galaxy that has been part of us for 45 years now. Disney+ released the exciting new trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3 during halftime of the NFL Super Wild Card game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which was simulcast in the United States on ABC, ESPN and ESPN+. If the new season is as exciting as the trailer, it will be fun. So, let’s see what we know about The Mandalorian Season 3.
The Mandalorian Season 3: The Plot Din Djarin is Reunited with Grogu
Along with the trailer, Disney has released a brief synopsis. The journeys of the Mandalorian in the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has rejoined Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to rid the galaxy of its dark past. The Mandalorian will meet old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together. The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito. Among the directors of the eight episodes of the third season are Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey and Bryce Dallas Howard. Jon Favreau is showrunner/head writer and executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson.
The Mandalorian and Grogu are Together Again
“Being a Mandalorian is not just about learning to fight. You must also know how to navigate the galaxy. This way you will never get lost we hear the Mandalorian voiceover say in the trailer. Season 3 of The Mandalorian will once again be a journey, an exploration of the galaxy and its souls, a sci-fi western on the road. To understand what to expect from season 3, we need to understand where we left off. The Mandalorian season 2 finale saw baby Grogu being taken over by Luke Skywalker, the Last Jedi, himself. He had brought him along, to educate him in Jedi doctrine. But the story – surprisingly – also continued in the last few episodes of The Book of Boba Fett. We have seen Grogu faced with a choice, faced with the two “gifts” given by Luke and Din Djarin. Stay and continue your Jedi training or follow the Mandalorian lifestyle. The answer seems to have already come from the trailers. The strange couple, the warrior and the child are together again. But whether or not he learns Jedi doctrine, one thing is certain: Grogu has the Force within him. And, again, he’ll use it when it’s useful. It will be amazing.
Return to Mandalor
“I’m going to Mandalor. So maybe they will forgive me for my transgressions”. There is also this among the key phrases spoken by the Mandalorian. Because, on the one hand, his mission will be to take care of little Grogu, like a sort of strange foster father, on the other, it will be to reunite with his people and take care of them. Several outstanding issues remain between Din Djarin and the people of his planet and “Mando” will have to try to resolve them.
The New Republic is in Danger
“Something dangerous is happening. And when you can finally intervene, it will be too late”. This phrase is spoken instead to the Mandalorian by another character. And this is perhaps the most intriguing part of the story. The seed of a new dictatorship, that danger of an eternal return of Evil. If the Empire has been defeated, we know that resurgences of the old power are still present. And, we know, one day he’ll be back with the First Order. It will be interesting then to see how the New Republic will be endangered and how our heroes will be able to save it.
Lightsabers and Coruscant
If Luke Skywalker could, in theory, have walked out of Grogu’s life, there would still be Jedi Knights in this new story. In one scene we see lightsabers twinkling in the dark. While, we see the protagonists arrive in Coruscant, one of the key planets in the Star Wars saga. As we know, the events of The Mandalorian take place a few years after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. And, as we have seen, in the new products of the Star Wars world, the closer you get to the periods or characters of the original trilogy, the temperature heats up. The arrival on the scene of Luke, R2-D2, and Boba Fett, in the episodes of the previous seasons, has always hit the mark. And then it is reasonable to expect other surprises in this sense.
