The Lord Of The Rings: Revealed The Title Of The New Amazon Series With a Video
Amazon has finally unveiled the title of the new Lord of the Rings series that will be released on September 2, 2022. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The release date of the first two episodes is set for September 2, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video. Subsequent episodes will be distributed on a weekly basis.
The new Amazon Studios series brings the heroic legends of the mythical Second Era of Middle-earth mythology to the screen for the very first time. This epic series is set thousands of years before the events seen in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien and it will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms achieved glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung on the thinnest of threads, and the greatest villain that has ever sprung from Tolkien’s pen he threatened to envelop the whole world in darkness.

Kicking off in an age of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both new and familiar, towards a long-feared confrontation with evil back in Middle – earth. From the dark depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elven capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island of the kingdom of Númenor, to the far reaches of the map. These kingdoms and characters will leave legacies that will survive long after their disappearance.
Filming for the first of a possible five seasons took place in New Zealand, at the soundstage in Auckland in various locations around the country. The series will be broadcast, at this point, in September 2022 on Amazon Prime Video.
The idea for the Lord of the Rings series comes from the writing duo of JD Payne and Patrick McKay ( Flash Gordon ). As project consultant Bryan Cogman (G ame of Thrones); JA Bayona (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) will direct several episodes and the script also includes Gennifer Hutchinson (Breaking Bad). In addition to them, Lindsey Weber, Bruce Richmond, Gene Kelly, Sharon Tal Yguado , Jason Cahill , Justin Doble, Stephany Folsom, Ron Ames, Helen Shang and Glenise Mullins join the creative team.
The official Twitter account of the show in March last year had published a map and a message combined with it. From there the understanding that the series should be set in the second era. In the Tolkien universe the second was the period in which the rings of power, including the only ring of Sauron, have begun to exist.
In addition to the Amazon Studios also involved Tolkien Estate and Trust, Harpercollin and New Line Cinema, a division of Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Maxim Baldry, Owain Arthur (A Confession), Nazanin Boniadi (Hotel Mumbai), Tom Budge (The Proposition), Ismael Cruz Córdova (The Undoing, The Mandalorian), Ema Horvath ( The Gallows Act II ), Tyroe Muhafidin (Caravan, series web), Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richars (Wanderlust), Dylan Smith (I Am the Night), Charlie Vickers (I Medici – Masters of Florence ) and Daniel Weyman (A Very English Scandal) join Markella Kavenagh (The Cry), Joseph Mawle (Game of Thrones, Birdsong), whose news dates back to last October, and Morfydd Clark (His Dark Materials). The latter, reportedly, could play a young Galadriel.
Amazon should build its own set for the series; It remains to be determined whether Peter Jackson, director of the famous Lord of the Rings film trilogy, will be involved in this new project.
