The Last of Us Season 2 Is Official: HBO Renews the Series for a Second Season
Good news for The Last of Us fans: as easily predictable, HBO’s adaptation of the popular Naughty Dog video game is proving to be a success with audiences and critics, and, even more easily predictable, the story of Joel and Ellie will have a second season! It is not known if, as for the first season, the series will follow the original material in a very faithful way or if it will take some narrative liberties or if it will even change the events (a particular event of the second chapter of the video game has decidedly split due the community of players), but it is very probable that, given the level of fidelity of this first season, it is reasonable to expect a new season very faithful to what was seen on PlayStation.
The Last of Us Season 2 Is Official
The Last of Us tells a story that takes place twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization. Joel, a survivor, is tasked with getting Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of a heavily guarded quarantine zone. A seemingly easy task that soon turns into a brutal and harrowing journey, as the two will have to cross the United States together and depend on each other to survive. It stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Gabriel Luna is Tommy, Anna Torv plays Tess, and British actress Nico Parker is Sarah. Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Storm Reid as Riley, and Merle Dandridge as Marlene. The cast also includes Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Elaine Miles as Florence. And with Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.
Through the first two episodes, audiences got to know Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they embark on a cross-country road trip to potentially find a cure for the Cordyceps virus. Response to The Last of Us season 1 was overwhelmingly positive, with episode 2 drawing in even more viewers than the near-record debut episode. The cast of the series is truly stellar and includes Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the role of the main protagonists: Joel and Ellie.
The series is written by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann (The Last of Us video game) who are also executive producers. The Last of Us is a Sony Pictures Television co-production with Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Rose Lam serving as executive producers. The series is produced by PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
