The Harder They Fall: Ending Explained Does Nat Love Kill Rufus Buck?

The Harder They Fall is out now on Netflix! The Harder They Fall uses real-life black legends of the West to tell its story of the never-ending cycle of revenge. The man in search of some satisfaction is Nat Love, a former slave who is going to take it from Rufus Buck of the aptly named Gang of Rufus Buck. They have a terrible reputation as murderers and thieves. Nat knows this all too well. Rufus came to his house and murdered his preacher father and his mother saint. He didn’t kill Nat, however. He has carved a cross on his forehead, however, so that he can see it coming when he seeks revenge as a man.

The Harder They Fall

The Love team is made up of the stagecoach Mary, an outlaw, and the owner of several saloons. Bill Pickett, Jim Beckworth, Cuffee, Mary’s henchman, and legendary lawyer Bass Reeves complete the group. The Buck team is made up of “treacherous” Trudy Smith and the eloquent Cherokee Bill. The latter is a kind of spokesperson. They meet in a town that might as well be called Bucksville, the Lovebugs need to get Stage Coach Mary out. It is being held, from what I can only guess, was consecrated as Rufus Buck Prison. We tell you all about the end of The Harder They Fall!

The Harder They Fall Ending Explanation

At the end of The Harder They Fall , an emotional Rufus tells Nat the story of his abusive upbringing. Rufus told Nat that his father, who was an outlaw and an alcoholic, used to hit his mother. One day, 10-year-old Rufus tried to save his mother, and his father got angry with him. His mother tried to protect Rufus and attacked his father with a bottle. In a fit of rage, his father killed his mother and left.

Ten-year-old Rufus, burning for revenge, became an outlaw and sought out his father to make him pay for his mother’s murder. Rufus finally found his father, who had turned into a new man and started a new family. After killing Rufus’ mother, the father got clean. He became a man of God and changed his last name from Buck to Love. He had a church, a 10-year-old son, and a new wife. And Rufus destroyed his father’s new life for revenge. He killed his father and his new wife and gave a mark to his new son, Nathaniel Love.

Rufus told Nat that he was his half-brother. He spared Nat’s life because he wanted Nat to follow the path of revenge and commit all the sins their father had tried to run away from. It was the ultimate revenge for Rufus. Nat couldn’t control his anger and emotions, and in a devastating state, he emptied his barrel on his half-brother, Rufus Buck.

The ring that Nat gave to Mary played a pivotal role in the story of the half-brother. Nat told Mary that her father gave the ring to her mother. This is probably the same ring that Rufus’ father gave his mother. The ring was precious to Rufus because it was his mother’s last memory. So he took it from Nat. At the end of The Harder They Fall Nat killed Rufus and got his father’s ring back.

During the fight with Rufus’ gang, Jim Beckwourth and Bill Pickett of Nat’s gang lost their lives. Nat, Marshal Bass and Mary paid their last respects to the fallen men. Nat also built a fake memorial cross for himself because he didn’t want to live the life of an Outlaw. He intentionally told the Maysville bank manager his name because he still had his escape plan in mind. And then Marshal Bass was there to verify Nat’s death. In his new life, Cuffee decided to become a sheriff, the first African-American sheriff, perhaps, in the film universe.

The law and the outlaws have gone their separate ways. Nat followed Stagecoach Mary, and the two likely started a family together. The film ends with a twist: the camera films an imposing Trudy Smith. During the fight with Trudy, Mary did not kill her. She will hunt down Nat and Mary for revenge. The end of The Harder They Fall promises a sequel.
