The Glory Part 1 Ending Explained: In Details! Who killed Mr. Kim?
The newest series released by Netflix that is very successful among subscribers is The Glory, yet another proof that Koreans are not kidding when it comes to original productions for the largest streaming platform in the world. The series has a very dramatic backdrop and follows the story of Moon Dong-Eun, who was the victim of terrible acts of violence at school and puts into practice an elaborate plan of revenge against the people who tormented her and destroyed her childhood. The woman, to put the plan into practice, begins to pursue former colleagues who practiced bullying against her and discovers their secrets little by little. With that, she will use all the weapons that are in her hands to manipulate them and make them suffer as much as she suffered.
Believing in the greatest motto of the well-known code of Hammurabi of “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”, Dong-Eun even tried to follow the path of the law to try to have justice carried out and even went so far as to file a complaint with the police. However, she ended up realizing that the authorities would not take action, which made her have the idea of acting on her own. With eight episodes, the first season of the production may have left some doubts or loose ends. The Glory: The Story Plot
Central to the plot of The Glory is Moon Dong-eun (Song Hye-kyo): a girl raised in poverty by a single mother who is subjected to torture, physical and psychological, by a group of bullies at school. Young people demonstrate a level of cruelty and sadism without limits, taking pleasure in inflicting violence and humiliating their victims, economically less well-off and without parents ready to defend them. The girl never gets, except a young nurse, protection and comfort from the adults around her, being abandoned by those who should instead support her.
The situation is so extreme that it leads her to think that the only solution is to take her own life, but Moon Dong-eun, right at the moment of greatest vulnerability, decides to react and devote herself totally to a plan that will lead her to take revenge on her captors. To do this, many years of preparation will be necessary which will lead her, for example, to become a teacher of the daughter of Park Yeon-jin (Lim Ji-yeon), the leader of the group of bullies, and to get to know the son of the head of the school that didn’t stand up for her, on the contrary, when she was just a teenager.
Moon Dong-eun (Song Hye-kyo) is a high school girl who is subjected to very serious bullying by a group of peers led by the cruel Park Yeon-jin (Lim Ji-yeon). Due to the constant harassment, the indifference of the teaching staff and the betrayal of her family, the young girl leaves school to put an end to the terrible oppression and be able to support herself. Sixteen years later, Moon Dong-eun managed to redeem herself socially, graduating and becoming a primary school teacher. However, this is not enough for the woman, who has never stopped thinking about her captors. And she did much more than think about it: in fact, she spent all the previous years developing a sadistic and meticulous plan to take revenge on all those who made her suffer. especially Park Yeon-jin (Shin Ye-eun) who is now married to a construction magnate, has a daughter and works as a television meteorologist. A difficult path in the desperate search for justice will lead the woman to transform herself from victim to perpetrator.
The Glory Part 1 Ending Explained: Who killed Mr. Kim? Who killed Myeong-O?
At least in the first season, the protagonist’s main target is Park Yeon-Jin, who always had a big dream of being a mother and wife. Dong-eun knew about these dreams and waited for her rival to make them come true and then ruin everything and destroy what she loves most. Years after the event, Yeon-jin managed to become a weather reporter, even though her colleagues considered her completely incompetent. Her position was maintained by one specific detail: her husband, Ha Do-Yeong, made generous cash donations to the television station where she works.
Although Yeon-jin’s life with her husband and daughter seemed perfect, the protagonist wanted to dig deep to find her dirty secrets, also planning to infiltrate the school where her rival’s daughter, Ha Ye-Sol, studied. To continue with her investigation, she rented an apartment near Yeon-jin’s house in hopes of finding evidence to incriminate her. One day, she finally finds something important: Kim Shin-tae ‘s discarded will. The document showed that his son, Cho Su-Hyeon, should not get all of his father’s properties, which would also go to a man named Jo Soo-Hyeon, the rich man’s secret lover. She uses the information to blackmail Shin-tae, thereby getting herself hired as a teacher for the second class of the first grade at Ye-Sol’s school. But the woman knows that she cannot go on her mission alone and will seek help even among those who made her miserable in the past.
Unexpected Support
One of those who belonged to the group is Son Myeong-oh, who used to do all the dirty work for the other members in exchange for money. Knowing the boy’s spirit of interest, the protagonist convinces him to switch to her side in exchange for a complete change of life when his revenge is completed. She is also emotionally invested in Ju Yeo-Jeong, sharing her past and her traumatic history. Even though he disagrees with her methods at first, he ends up agreeing that the protagonist’s revenge is fair, declaring her support for brutally punishing the bullies.
This acceptance is because Yeo-Jeong also had a feeling of revenge and anger in his mind. He undergoes therapies to hide it but has managed to reconnect with the desire for justice for his father, who was brutally murdered by a serial killer. His dream was always to stick a knife in the murderer’s body, who even wrote him several letters, which significantly shook his psyche.
What is Myeong-Oh’s Outcome?
Helping Dong-eun in his crusade against the rest of the villainous group, Myeong-oh meets a tragic end after blackmailing Yeon-jin over Yoon So-he’s murder. Having booked passage to Russia and looking forward to his changed life, he is found on the floor, dead, with shoes that belonged to the villain. She, in turn, uses all her influence to flee the crime scene.
A Turnaround
However, Dong-Eun still has an ace up her sleeve against her rival. She sends photos to the villain’s husband and makes him suspicious of her relationship with his school friend, Jae-Joon. Also questioning the reason for Myeong-oh’s disappearance, the man still wonders why the woman hates Ye-Sol’s teacher so much. Starting to connect all the dots, he suspects that the woman who gave him the photos studied at the same school as his wife, even discovering that she was the very teacher that Yeon-jin hates so much.
He confronts Choi Hye-Jeong, also a member of his wife’s evil group in the past. Ridiculed by her peers, she reveals every detail of how Dong-eun was tortured and bullied in the past—which makes Do-Yeong increasingly hungry for the truth. Contacting Dong-eun and arranging a meeting, the man confirms that she was the one who sent him the photos. At the same time, Yeon-jin finds the rival’s apartment and observes the photos resulting from the investigation pasted on the wall. At this moment, she regrets not having killed her as well. It is in this context that the first season ends, with the expectation that Dong-eun will use Do-Yeong in the next step of his plan to isolate Yeon-jin from her friends and family and destroy her utterly.
What is Dong-Eun’s Plan?
Victim of terrible bullying in his high school days, Dong-eun has spent his entire life elaborating a meticulous plan of revenge against the boys responsible for such harassment. The woman’s obsession focuses especially on Yeon-jin, the sadist of the group, who is now a meteorologist, married to the construction industry tycoon Ha Do-Yeong and the mother of little Ha Ye-sol. Her revenge project, which begins by learning to play Go to get closer to Do-Yeong and becoming Ye-sol’s teacher, has as its central phase that of isolating and rendering Yeon-jin helpless, turning her friends against her (also responsible for the bullying) and her husband.
To do so, she reveals to Yeon-jin’s lover Jae-Joon, of being Ye-sol’s biological father while making Myeong-o believe that the meteorologist is responsible for the murder of So-hee, another bullied girl in her high school days and that the latter’s body is in the ‘morgue. Myeong-o’s job is then to blackmail her for money and a recorded confession. To help her in the realization of Do-Yeong’s inexorable plan also comes Yeo-Jeong, a young plastic surgeon who has been in love with her for some time, after seeing the terrible signs of the oppression suffered on the woman’s body, says to her:
All right, I’ll be the executioner you seek. I will dance with the sword. Just tell me when to start. What do you want me to do? Of all of them, who should I kill first?
At the end of the sixth episode of The Glory, therefore, our protagonist begins to pull the strings of her ruthless project which has already claimed one victim: in fact, we see Myeong-o dead on the floor of her house, while a woman with green shoes walks away quickly from the scene of the crime.
Who Killed Son Myeong-o?
In this first part of The Glory, we are not revealed with certainty who is responsible for the murder of Myeong-o. We know that the same pair of green shoes is in the possession of three women: Dong-eun herself, Yeon-jin and Choi Hye-Jeong, a hostess who was always part of the group of bullies but with less authority. However, the most probable hypothesis is that Yeon-jin killed him after being blackmailed by him; moreover, in the eighth episode, we see how she has wounds on her feet and indelible stains on the famous pair of green shoes. It is also true that while the man’s death may have been caused by the hand of another, Dong-sun is still indirectly responsible, having caused it to happen. On the other hand,
Does Do-Yeong Find Out The Truth?
Arriving at the end of the eighth episode of The Glory, it is presumable that by now Do-Yeong, Yeon-jin’s husband, knows the whole truth. He found out, first through Myeong-o and then through Jae-joon’s words, that he is not the biological father of his daughter Ye-sol and learned through stewardess Choi Hye-jeong (forced through threats by Dong-eun) of the violence that occurred during the high school period. As we will see in the next paragraph, a direct comparison with Dong-Eun herself will clarify the man’s doubts once and for all.
How Does The Glory End?
The ending of The Glory sets the stage for what will happen in the second part of the k-drama created by Kim Eun-sook. Do-Yeong, who, as we have said, has now discovered the truth about his wife and the paternity of their daughter, finally decides to contact Dong-eun to ask her to tell him her version of events under the pretext of a game of Go. meanwhile, Yeon-jin, who has discovered that her bitter enemy lives right in front of her, manages to enter Dong-eun’s house, where she finds all the photos – of hers and her friends – hanging on the wall and realizes the existence of a detailed revenge plan. Just as she is intent on contemplating the wall, someone opens the door: it is not, however, the owner of the house, but her husband Do-Yeong, with whom he will presumably have the first real confrontation on what is going on. Finally, we see Yeo-Jeong go to the hospital morgue and open the cell where So-hee’s body should have been; inside, however, there is no corpse – which had already been analyzed way back in 2004 – and this makes us understand that Dong-eun also lied to the young surgeon.
When Does the Second Part of The Glory Come Out?
Arriving at the end of the eighth episode of The Glory we realize that, what we have seen so far, is only the first part of Do-yeong’s ruthless revenge plan. The question, therefore, arises spontaneously: when will the second part of the k-drama come out? The new episodes will be made available on the platform during the month of March 2023 on Netflix. It will therefore not be necessary to wait too long to find out if Dong-eun’s project will go through and what will be, in the end, the fate of the woman.
