The Girl Before was announced in March 2021 and is based on the bestselling novel by JP Delaney, which has already sold over a million copies since it was published in 2016. Delaney adapted the book with Marissa Lestrade (Deep State, Casualty) who co-wrote the miniseries. Lisa Brühlman (Servant, Killing Eve) directed the miniseries and served as executive producer. The other cast members are Jessica Plummer, Ben Hardy, Rakhee Thakrar, Amanda Drew and Ian Conningham.
