The Flash Trailer 2: 7 Questions and Reflections From The New Trailer
Warner Bros. has released the new trailer for The Flash movie, which is probably the most anticipated of the upcoming DC movie releases! This is because The Flash should put order between the old and new DC cinematic universes. In addition to this, the presence of Michael Keaton’s beloved Batman and new characters such as Supergirl significantly increase the public’s expectations (the so-called hype). After watching the new adrenaline-pumping trailer for The Flash, questions obviously arise. I have tried to give some answers to these. NB: The following answers are based on what you see in the trailers and on individual interpretations, so they are not meant as spoilers.
The Flash Trailer 2: 7 Questions and Reflections From The New Trailer
The second trailer for The Flash has finally hit the nets following Warner Bros. Discovery’s big panel at CinemaCon 2023 – and DC fans are thrilled after seeing some new epic images of Ben Affleck’s Batman – affectionately known as ” Batfleck ” all within the community! As you can see in the gifs and photos below, The Flash director Andy Muschietti has arguably captured some of the best Batman action we’ve ever seen on screen, with sequences from Ben Affleck’s Bat Man that could rival the epics. Batman action scenes are seen in Zack Snyder’s films Batman v Superman and Justice League. Scroll below for a more detailed look at some great action moments from The Flash movie, as well as a general celebration of all things Batfleck!
Why Does Flash Meet Batman?
Since the first trailer for The Flash, Batman played by Michael Keaton has been present. This was first seen in the cinema in 1989 in the film Batman directed by Tim Burton. In The Flash, a film to be released in Italian cinemas on June 15, 2023, the protagonist played by Ezra Miller meets Michael Keaton’s Batman, which is part of an alternative universe to the one in which Barry Allen operates seen in the film Justice League together to another Batman (Ben Affleck’s).
What emerges from the two trailers of The Flash published so far by Warner Bros. is that Barry travels back in time to try to save his parents (who died when he was a child). This action of his changes both the past and the future of the universe in which he has operated up to that moment. This change is evidenced by the words of Ben Affleck’s Batman, who is in the main universe (which is that of the DCEU, where the recent adventures of Batman, Aquaman, Superman, and Wonder Woman took place) and by those of Barry Allen once he realizes the trouble he has done!
Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne:
If you went back to the past you don’t know what the consequences might be
Barry Allen:
I demolished the universe. I created a world without metahumans and now no one can defend us!
Barry’s solution is evidently to seek help from other superheroes in other universes. One of them is that of Michael Keaton’s Batman. Bruce Wayne understands Barry’s story and shares his pain, as his parents were also killed when he was just a child.
Batman Costumes?
The second trailer for The Flash opens with the voice of Michael Keaton and with a speech about losing parents. The video is edited so that Bruce Wayne’s voice is accompanied by 2 significant images. The first is the one showing Bruce Wayne’s hand next to the family photo. The hand is soiled with what may be painted. There may be a wound on the knuckle of the index finger. Bruce may have done some strenuous work at Wayne Manor, but if that’s what I’m guessing, Bruce painted something and then punched it apart, sustaining injuries.
In the following images, Bruce is seen from behind with long white hair and several Batman armors in front of him. What does all this mean? I guess that after the events of the second film Batman Returns in 1992 (directed by Tim Burton), Bruce Wayne continued to operate as a vigilante but at some point, he realized that he was “fighting windmills” that is, to fight an endless battle against himself that would never satisfy him.
I lost my parents. That pain made me who I am. I’ve spent a lifetime trying to make up for the mistakes of the past. Like fighting crime will find my parents. You succeeded!
This passage, spoken by Bruce Wayne, is particularly important, as Michael Keaton’s character admits that he still fought but realized that he had done something wrong, that his goal was unattainable and, at some point, he must have given up.
Why Does Flash Meet Supergirl?
Once it is established that Barry Allen’s actions change the past and future, one must also take into consideration the fact that the Justice League superheroes never existed. In their place, alternative versions could have been born or, as in the case of Supergirl, a detail could have changed the fate of any of them. In the new past created by Barry, Kara aka Supergirl appears to have arrived on Earth instead of Clark Kent. Why Kara is in what appears to be a Russian prison in the snow is still a mystery. The most plausible hypothesis is that as a child, instead of being received as a daughter by the hypothetical American Kent parents, Kara was found in Russia and put in prison to be studied or to be transformed into a Soviet weapon. To recruit superheroes, Batman and Barry may have intercepted Kara‘s presence in the Russian prison and then reached her to rescue her.
The Battle Against Zod?
General Zod is the villain of the film Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder and released in theaters in 2013. Henry Cavill’s Superman is present in this film but – as is known – the actor will no longer play the role of the Man of Steel, so he won’t be in The Flash. In the film with Barry Allen to be released in mid-June in theaters around the world, the past created by the villainous actions of The Flash eliminates metahumans from the face of the Earth (therefore those who have superpowers) and this makes our planet defenseless against threats alien. Zod, played once again by Michael Shannon, then arrives on Earth to turn it into a livable planet for Kryptonians. This suggests that Krypton’s past has not been changed and therefore the planet was destroyed.
But if there’s no Superman, how did Zod get to Earth? The simplest answer is that Zod traced the journey made by the escape pod used by Supergirl. During Zod’s alien invasion, there is a scene that could suggest that Batman never existed in that timeline. Unless it’s a posthumous homage, Bruce Wayne still has his parents alive, and his mother Martha Wayne is an institution holder of some sort. The following frame is taken from the 1:08 minute of the new trailer of The Flash. This scene is supposed to show the “new” Gotham City. The terraforming in the Man of Steel movie, which is the same as that shown in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starts from Metropolis.
Who is The Villain in The Flash?
This is a question that is difficult to answer. The trailers show Zod as an enemy, but I believe that in the film directed by Andy Muschietti, the one with Zod will be just a big fight in the middle of the film. This probably serves to make the three superheroes Flash, Batman and Supergirl fight together. But the film is called The Flash and somehow, he will have the clash with the real villain of the film that Warner Bros. is still keeping in great secrecy (even if the official merchandising of The Flash “tries” to make spoilers). Making a hypothesis one can think that there is a bad version of Flash.
How Many Flashes Are in The Movie?
In addition to Barry Allen as a child, the trailer shows two Barry Allens, namely the one who comes from the future (with short hair) and the one who lives in his presence in the past (the one with longer hair). With a world without metahumans where most of the action of this new DC film takes place, the Barry Allen of the past may not initially have the powers, but some images suggest that the long-haired Barry somehow manages to get the powers. The union of the two Flashes – the one from the future with red lightning and the one from the past with blue lightning – could increase the strength and/or speed of both. The third Flash, as previously written, could be the villain. But this is never seen in the trailers.
What will Happen at The End of The Flash?
As previously anticipated, in all probability Barry Allen will fight the main villain of the film alone in the finale. Furthermore, he will have to decide whether to tidy up the timeline in which his parents die or not. Flash will then have to decide whether to leave the death of his parents unchanged. Regardless of what Barry decides to do in the film, The Flash should make it clear to fans that the DC universe is filled with characters and alternatives that exist within the Multiverse. Michael Keaton’s Batman could also sacrifice himself in battle with Zod (remember that he is still a human) or he could hang up the Batman suit once and for all.
Kara will prove to be a very important superheroine, given that in 2025 the film dedicated to her entitled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be released in cinemas. It is quite certain that the DCEU universe will not be canceled given the October 2023 release of the sequel to Aquaman or Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom.
