The Flash: Supergirl aka Kara is Shown with a New Costume (PHOTOS)
The Flash Film News shares a new photo of The Flash that offers a full look at Supergirl‘s red-and-blue jumpsuit. Sasha Calle will play Kara Danvers/Supergirl on The Flash alongside Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, as well as Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as their respective versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Calle said she’s excited for fans to get to know her version of the Girl of Steel, calling the role of Supergirl “one of the greatest honors“ of her life. The Flash director Andy Muschietti had an early look at Supergirl’s costume in June 2021. At the time of writing, it is still unclear which version of the heroine Calle’s Supergirl is based on, if Kara Zor-El, the original Supergirl created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino in 1959, or Lara Lane-Kent, co-created by Bruno Redondo and Tom Taylor in 2015 for DC’s Injustice comics.

While not much is known about The Flash’s storyline, the film will deal a lot with the multiverse and explore alternate realities. Previous descriptions of the film have also hinted that Calle’s Supergirl won’t be operating at full power. The character descriptions of the two versions of the film, Barry Allen/The Flash (Miller), Bruce Wayne/Batman (Keaton), and Supergirl, describe them as “two idiotic kids, a retired vigilante and an alien in mid-solar charge“.
In a previous interview, Calle said she was honored to play the first Latina version of Supergirl. “There was a moment while we were shooting where [Muschietti] said to me, ‘Hey, come over here and look at this scene on the playback monitor. I walk up and I see her [Supergirl], and she’s in her full glory. And suddenly I was moved. Because I looked at her and I was like, ‘Wow, I wish I had this when I was little.’ It meant a lot to me”, la Calle explained.
Production on The Flash wrapped in October 2021 after years of development, rewrites, and the ongoing controversy surrounding its protagonist. However, according to reports from many insiders, the film has the potential to become one of the flagship products of the DC Extended Universe. Other cast members include Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, and Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen.
In an interview last year, director Andrés Muschietti explained that this storyline would be the basis for future films on DC properties. Miller has been portraying Barry Allen/The Flash in the DCEU since 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, it’s currently unclear how Warner Bros. Discovery will proceed with Miller following The Flash’s theatrical debut, due to the controversy and the public scandals surrounding the actor. Despite this, a sequel to The Flash has already been written by Aquaman screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
