The First Slam Dunk: New Slam Dunk Movie Release Date Announced With New Poster
Slam Dunk will be hitting overseas cinemas soon with its first feature film, and fans have been able to take a new look at The First Slam Dunk with a new poster anticipating future updates! In recent years, there have been many classic manga and anime franchises from the 90s and 2000s that have returned with new projects, and now a new one is on the way to take on a great sports champion. Takehiko Inoue‘s classic basketball franchise is returning for a new film project after all these years and will hit Japanese theaters starting in December.
Titled The First Slam Dunk, this new film in the series will hit Japanese theaters starting December 3, 2022. It’s been quite a while since fans have been able to see even a teaser trailer showing the new film in motion, but it seems that as theatrical release approaches, the promotional train is now in full swing. This continues with a new poster showing the lineup of the main cast and how they will come to life in the new revival film.
The First Slam Dunk will be released in Japan on December 3 but has not yet revealed any international plans. Toei Animation‘s official YouTube channel will share new information about the film on November 3, and since very little of the film has been shown, it’s highly likely we’ll see a new trailer for it. As for what we know about the project at the moment, however, key staff members have been confirmed.
Original series creator Takehiko Inoue will write and direct the film in first person for Toei Animation and DandeLion Animation Studio. He will be joined by Yasuyuki Ebara as character designer and animation director, Daiki Nakazawa as director of computer graphics, Yuta Ogura as a producer of computer graphics, Kazuo Ogura as artistic director, Yota Tsuruoka and Koji Kasamatsu as sound directors and Katsuhiko Kitada, Naoki Miyahara, Toshio Ohashi and Yu Kamatani as technical directors.

The First Slam Dunk movie will be released on December 3, 2023, in Japan, but this is not all, more news about this project will also be revealed on November 4, 2022.
Slam Dunk is about the life of Hanamichi Sakuragi, a gang member who becomes a great basketball player, just to try to pick up a girl from his school. The story created in 1993 by Takehiko Inoue, tells us the story of Hanamichi, who is a 15-year-old boy who causes many problems to all the people around him, for belonging to various gangs or sects that induce him to commit dishonest acts. He was never fond of sports, but ever since he met a girl quite skilled in basketball, he started showing interest in her, just to be close to her. The anime features compelling love stories, such as Love Hina, with its leads Keitaro and Naru.
It is important to know that our protagonist of Slam Dunk has been rejected many times by girls, turning him into a conflicted and disorganized teenager with his own life. Entering Shonoku High School, he remembers his last love failure, when his ex-girlfriend left him for a basketball player. Haramichi is a tall boy with a good body, for the few times he dared to play sports. At school, he meets Haruko, a professional basketball player, with whom he falls in love at first sight.
