The CW Cancels 7 Tv Series In One Day: Here Are The Titles Not Renewed!

The CW implements a real thinning of its TV series titles: seven series were canceled on the same day, including titles that were unexpected by fans. The titles of the non-renewed series are Legacies, Charmed, Dynasty, Ro Swell, New Mexico, In the Dark, The 4400 and Naomi. Naomi was canceled after just one season, as was the reboot of The 4400, while Dynasty greets its audience after five seasons of airing. Titles Roswell, New Mexico, Charmed, and In the Dark instead were canceled after four seasons of airing. In addition to these six series, The CW hasn’t renewed Batwoman and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for another season. The so-called Arrowverse will continue, however, with The Flash, Supergirl and Superman & Lois. The CW has already ordered other titles as well, such as Gotham Knights, Walker: Independence and The Winchesters.

Naomi is about a superheroine with great powers who is passionate about comics: the series was produced by Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship. Charmed takes up the cult series of the 90s and tells the story of two sisters struggling with the death of the third, Macy. The presence of magic takes fans straight back to the original series, in which the three sisters Piper, Prue, and Phoebe shone with their equally legendary performers. Roswell, another reboot of a legendary series, is the second series inspired by the children’s novels Roswell High by Melinda Metz. Few will not know Dynasty, a remake of the popular series that aired from 1981 to 1989 on ABC. Legacies are instead the spin-off of The Originals (from The Vampire Diaries universe), which aired for 4 seasons.

  • Dynasty: canceled after 5 seasons
  • In the Dark: canceled after 4 seasons, with the fourth coming out June 6
  • Legacies: canceled after 4 seasons, with the fourth out on June 16th
  • Naomi: canceled after only one season
  • Roswell, New Mexico: canceled after 4 seasons
  • Charmed: canceled after 4 seasons
  • The 4400: canceled after only one season

Finally, The 4400 project is another remake of a mystery drama series – which aired from 2004 to 2007 – which also includes the great actor Mahershala Ali. The original series had the same title and is a chilling and interesting sci-fi. In the Dark, also produced by Ben Stiller, tells the story of an irreverent blind woman of 20, Murphy, who has only two friends: Jess, her understanding roommate, and Tyson, a young drug dealer who saved from a violent robbery. Created by Corinne Kingsbury, former writer of The Newsroom, it was produced by the production company Red Hour Films.

The fate of Stargirl and Tom Swift is still uncertain. The reasons behind the closures are not known. The downsizing is most likely due to the imminent change of ownership (Warner Bros. Discovery and ViacomCBS will sell the channel and are in talks with the Nexstar group), low ratings, and contractual issues concerning some series, such as the contemporary reboot of Dynasty saved to date thanks to the agreement between CBS and Netflix. The only novelty that escaped The CW’s “red wedding” is All American: Homecoming, the sports drama by Nkechi Okoro that the network has renewed for a second season.
