The Continental Episode 3 Ending Explained: What Happens to Winston? Does Winston Manage to Save the Hotel?
The Continental Episode 3 brought us electrifying twists, epic confrontations, and surprising revelations. Winston Scott is on a relentless quest for revenge for the death of his brother, Frankie, as he fights to take control of The Continental Hotel. In this article, we will recap the main events of episode 3 and discuss the characters’ motivations and Winston’s future as a hotel manager in The Continental. The series, it’s worth remembering, is set decades before the events of John Wick, focusing mainly on the rise of Winston, the manager of The Continental Hotel in New York. So, what happens at the end of production? “The Continental is a global chain of hotels that serves as neutral ground for members of the underworld; hotel staff try to deal with the murderers and hired killers who come to stay”, says the official synopsis of The Continental on Prime Video. The plot begins in 1975, with a young Winston rising through the ranks of the High Summit and assuming increasingly important positions at the hotel.
The Continental Episode 3 Ending Explained: What Happens to Winston?
In the final stretch of The Continental, as the New York Continental turns into a real battlefield, Winston and his allies launch an attack to kill Cormac and take over the hotel. Desperate, Mel Gibson’s character takes a type of drug that increases his aggression and resistance. He also activates a timed self-destruct device to blow up the entire hotel. Amid the shooting in the hotel lobby and bar, Winston’s allies use the pneumatic package delivery system to drop bombs on various sections of the building. After a long battle, Lou manages to shoot Hansel. Meanwhile, Yen blows up Gretel after an intense duel on the hotel roof.
Cormac is finally murdered, and Winston confirms his dominance as the new authority of the New York Continental – demonstrating his incredible skills by killing the High Court Judge. With order restored, the High Summit recognizes Winston’s potential and leaves the hotel under the assassin’s command. By the end of The Continental, Winston had settled into the position of hotel manager, with concierge Charon at his side. The outcome, in this sense, leaves the way open for the production of a 2nd season of the series. The new episodes may show Winston’s achievements in his new role, in addition to the character’s troubled relationship with the High Summit. Additionally, season 2 of The Continental could address a potential conflict between the High Summit assassins and the henchmen of the Bowery King – Laurence Fishburne’s character in the John Wick franchise.
Charon’s Turn
Winston was determined to take possession of The Continental Hotel’s weapons room with his team, but before the plan could be implemented, Cormac’s men captured him. The presence of Mazie, the queen of the Bowery, provided them with the strength they needed for the coming battle. Jenkins was strategically positioned in a neighboring building, ready to support Winston. Jenkins opened fire on Cormac’s men, taking them by surprise. At that moment, Charon surprisingly turned his weapon against Cormac, revealing his loyalty to Winston. Cormac had to flee and hide in the operations room, a location unknown to most. Charon’s choice to join Winston was a crucial turning point in the battle. Now Winston had a reliable ally and a real chance of defeating Cormac.
Lou’s Turnaround
Lou always refused to pick up a gun, even when his life was in danger. However, she agreed to help Winston with his plans. But why did she resist the use of weapons? The answer was revealed in this episode of The Continental. We find out that Lou believed a lie his entire life. She thought her father had never used a gun, but that belief was wrong. Chen, leader of a local gang, revealed to Lou that her father was a hitman, and her brother, Miles, knew this and hated his father for it. This revelation made Lou realize that she no longer had a reason not to use weapons. She was willing to fight the mercenaries and gangsters who protected Cormac.
KD’s Past and His Hunt for the Scott Brothers?
KD was a mysterious figure searching for brothers Scott, Frankie, and Winston. She asked Lou and Lemmy to inform her of Winston Scott’s whereabouts, but so far, she had not revealed her motives. However, KD was being pursued by Mayhew, which brought her into a confrontation with Lou. KD arrived at the Rhodes Hotel, where Winston was hiding. There, she was shot by Cormac’s men, and it was only Winston’s intervention that saved her. With KD seriously injured, she revealed her true motivation for pursuing the Scott brothers. We discover that Frankie and Winston, at Cormac’s behest, set fire to a house, unaware that a family was inside. The entire family died, except for one girl: KD. Since that day, KD has been determined to find the Scott brothers and get revenge for the death of her family. The revelation that the Scotts, not Cormac, were truly responsible for the fire added a shocking twist to the plot.
Winston’s Revenge Against Cormac?
The battle at the Hotel Continental was fierce and intense. With Charon’s help, Winston managed to survive the numerous challenges. Lou and Miles faced Hansel, one of the murderous twins, and, despite the difficulties, managed to kill him. On the hotel terrace, Yen faced Hansel’s sister, Gretal, in a personal battle motivated by the desire to avenge Frankie’s death. Lou broke his oath to never wield a weapon to defeat Hansel, while Yen finally managed to eliminate Gretal. With their formidable opponents defeated, Winston and Charon hurried to stop Cormac from detonating The Continental Hotel. Cormac tried to escape through the underground tunnels but was intercepted by Winston. At this critical moment, KD arrived and shot Cormac at point-blank range, after hearing his guilty plea for the burning house tragedy. Cormac’s fate was sealed, and Winston was ready to act. Winston rushed to the operations room and, with the help of operator Connor’s severed hand managed to stop the detonation countdown. The Hotel Continental was saved from destruction, and a new manager was about to take over.
Winston as Manager of The Continental Hotel?
In the emotional ending of The Continental, the Adjudicator confronts Winston and reveals that she has stopped the detonation. She questioned Winston’s authority as the hotel manager and demanded to know where the coin press that had triggered the entire battle was. Winston revealed that the press was hidden in Charlie’s car storage room and that he had given it to Mazie, a location that Alta Mesa could not reach. The Adjudicator announced that the High Table would not deal with Winston, considering him a “nobody”, and ordered him to leave the hotel. In a surprising moment, Winston shot the Adjudicator and ordered his assistant to take his body back to the masters of the High Table. He knew that as long as he had the coin press in his possession, the High Table would have to make a deal with him. This turn of events marked Winston’s rise as the manager of the Hotel Continental.
The third episode of The Continental brought us exciting twists, surprising revelations, and a glimpse into Winston’s future as manager of the Hotel Continental.
