The Boys Season 3: Is Soldier Boy The Key To Killing The Homelander? Here Is Explanation

We are five episodes into this season and The Boys Season 3 finally introduced Soldier Boy, a hero turned villain who could end up being a hero if Billy Butcher has his way. But this Soldier Boy is very different from the incarnation of him in the comics. The Homelander, a psychopathic parody of Superman, is not only the strongest and fastest human being on the planet; he’s also dangerously unstable and perfectly willing to murder millions of people if he feels like it, and it gets worse every day.

The Boys Season 3: How Butcher Will Kill Homelander?

It’s clear he has to go down, but how do you kill a guy like that? Billy Carnicero and Hughie Campbell think they have the answer: find out what killed Soldier Boy, a famous member of Revancha who supposedly died during an operation in Nicaragua. But The Boys have discovered that he is still alive and captured by the Russians, so they go to his rescue.

Soldier Boy

Soldier Boy easily breaks free of his restraints and tries to leave, but Frenchie stops him. The superhero charges up his powers and fires an energy blast at him, but Kimiko pushes Frenchie away and takes the hit herself. Soldier Boy calmly departs as his companions tend to his fallen comrade, whose healing powers seem to have disappeared. In the last scene, we see the team taking Kimiko to a hospital, where she is about to die.

This is not one of Soldier Boy’s original superpowers in the comics. Like Marvel‘s Captain America, Soldier Boy boasts age-defying super strength, stamina, tenacity, and near-invulnerability. However, these wild energy attacks are something new. The third season of The Boys has yet to reveal where this new nuclear power is coming from, but Russian experiments with Soldier Boy are almost certainly to blame. At the end of episode 5, Soldier Boy and Butcher strike a deal, which seems to put a bull’s-eye on The Homelander’s back: Soldier Boy’s power can, at the very least, render the indestructible superman powerless long enough for Butcher and The Boys kill him (with or without their temporary V upgrades).
