The culture of remakes in the Hindi film industry is exactly like the rain of Bombay. Always keeps going. Some time back came ‘Antim’ and ‘Chori’, which were remakes of ‘Mulshi Pattern’ and ‘Lapachpi’. Now continuing this momentum, ‘Tadap’ has come, which is a Hindi remake of the 2018 Telugu film ‘RX 100’. Sunil Shetty’s son Ahan Shetty is going to make his film debut from the film.

The Review and Analysis

Launching a newcomer is a challenge in itself for any filmmaker. This is because it is challenging to present it in its best form. It becomes necessary for an actor to give his best in the given screen space. Directed by Milan Luthria, ‘Tadap’ in the opening seconds is completely focused on Ahan Shetty. Trying to portray him as an angry young man, full of passion for his lady love Tara Sutaria. ‘Tadap’ is a remake of the 2018 Telugu film ‘RX 100’, which was based on real events.

Till the interval, this film seems to you to be a typical love story. There is a poor boy in it. is a rich girl. The same old spice that the girl is getting married with the will of her father. But after the interval the film suddenly changes. Love falls apart. Passion crosses limits. Ishaan’s character gradually grows up in the film. He is serious, a little bit angry and full of passion. This is the perfect character for Ahaan in his debut film. However, there may be a little more effort on his dialogue delivery. Ahan looks good on screen. There is a shine in him in the debut film itself. The film’s writer Rajat Arora has left no stone unturned to present Ahaan as an action-romance hero with the help of story and dialogues. Milan Luthria’s films are anyway known for heavy dialogues. Even in ‘Tadap’ he does not disappoint in this mode. However, sometimes it becomes too much for you as a viewer. The plot of the film and its story starts getting stuck, tired after a time.

The film beats at the level of its story. With a runtime of 2 hours 10 minutes, it makes you tired on many occasions. Looks boring. Before the interval, where the film moves like a gust of wind in slow motion, in the second half it seems as if it has started running on a race track. There are many twists in the film, which create drama. There are some strong action scenes. As a viewer, half of the film looks fine to you and half is absolutely thrilling.

Pritam’s songs are worth humming. It is also good for love story. The cinematography has left no stone unturned to showcase the beauty of Mussoorie. It is a fact that Tadap is a commercial film. But it also cannot be ignored that there are some sequences which take time to fit in the film. Tadap is such a love story whose passion does not connect the audience emotionally.

Tadap Movie Review: Star Performances

Ahan Shetty’s effort to incorporate a character like Ishana in his very first film is commendable. He looks impressive on screen, but his dialogue delivery has room for some improvement. Tara Sutaria as Ramisa looks beautiful in every frame and has done justice to her character. Especially the shift shown in her character in the second half has been captured by Tara best. Saurabh Shukla as Ishana’s father and Kumud Mishra as Ramisa’s father strengthens the film with his performance.

Ahan Shetty has done justice to his character in Tadap. He is especially good in action and intense scenes. At the same time, Ahan’s chemistry with Tara Sutaria is also good. The other things that work in favor of the film are the characters and the cinematography. The first half of the film is quite stretched, so slowly the interest starts to fade away. The film picks up pace in the second half. There is a lot of lack of light moments in the film, if they were there, the film would have attracted all sections.

Technical Aspects

Tadap has been shot in Mussoorie. Cinematographer Ragul Herian Dharuman has given a beautiful backdrop to the love story of Ahaan and Tara while capturing the beauty of the place. Rajeshji Pandey’s editing could have tied the film a little more, especially the first half. The screenplay and dialogues of the film are written by Rajat Arora, which are average. This obsessive love story fails to connect with your feelings. The twist brought in the second half is quite interesting, but the journey till there becomes very long. The film falters at the story level, making it seem stretched for its runtime.

Tadap Movie Review: The Last Words

Overall Tadap is a film that has romance, action, music and beautiful locations. It would have been great if there was a little more effort on the screenplay, there would have been something else in the love story, which after watching the film, the audience would return home like a beautiful memory.
