This new superhero series is the brainchild of writer and director Rapman, best known for the acclaimed 2019 musical crime drama Blue Story, the highest-grossing British urban film of all time. This time, Rapman presents a bold series that follows a group of seemingly disconnected black people from South London as they develop superpowers overnight. To get to the conclusion of the first installment of the program, we must remember that it brings together five people who, from one moment to the next, acquire superpowers and who meet for different purposes. It’s not a superhero story with good intentions, but quite the opposite. Each character has a secret and even criminal world.
However, Michael, played by Tosin Cole, will unite them to save his fiancée, Dionne, whose death could trigger the end of the world. Having landed on Netflix in late June and firmly among the most-watched products on the streaming platform, Supacell follows a group of South Londoners who discover they have developed mysterious superpowers and become the target of a group of “hooded figures.” Specifically, our protagonist is Michael, a delivery driver with the power to teleport and, with some effort, travel through time.
Michael’s story gradually becomes intertwined with that of the other characters in the series – a roster of superheroes of all respect – and, as we will see in this explanation of the Supacell finale, the last episode of the Netflix series closes several storylines. As for the most salient questions, Michael desperately tries to save the life of his girlfriend Dionne, after traveling to the future where he learns that the girl will die on July 9. There are also questions about the identity of the hooded characters, a group that attacks our heroes throughout the season through wormholes. Supacell: The Story Plot
Supacell takes us into the lives of a series of people who are in theory completely normal, even if their lives are unfortunately not that different from each other. Tazer (Josh Teduku) is a young member of one of the many youth gangs that nowadays make several parts of London incredibly treacherous places. He ended up in hospital after being stabbed. Then there is the young Dionne (Adelayo Adedayo), who juggles work and an unsatisfactory relationship with a local crime boss and who discovers, like everyone else, that in moments of greatest stress or danger, her powers emerge uncontrollably to protect her. Even Michael (Tosin Cole), who works as a delivery boy, comes to the same conclusion the powers save his life but also leave him full of doubts about the motive and reason for which he possesses them. In that urban undergrowth, there is also Andre (Eric Kofi Abrefa), an ex-convict who to pay his wife’s maintenance accepts virtually any type of job but does not seem to find his way, in a context often made of degradation and poverty, which even the young drug dealer Rodney (Calvin Demba) must face in his own way. He realizes that he has a gift of super speed which naturally leaves him, like everyone else, confused and in the grip of panic.
All of them have one thing in common: they are coloured, and they represent that particular minority segment of African origin, which in 21st century London continues to have to fight much more than others to have their own economic independence or to get out of substantially dramatic situations. hereditary without any help. From the beginning, therefore, Supacell presents itself as a perfect example of a product linked to the old concept of blaxploitation, that cultural phenomenon which in the 70s generated a modern myth like Shaft, the declination of the noir and crime genre for the Afro audience. The final result, however, is not so predictable or standardized to the clichés of the genre, for Rapman, by embracing above all the concept of an independent product, of a B-movie, it moves with a decisive step towards the metaphorical narration of the dramatic situation of the London suburbs, of England post-Brexit.

These superpowers are unlocked when those with Supacell are thrust into dangerous situations or come into contact with others who have already unlocked their abilities. This explains why our lead group developed their powers overnight. We learn that the black woman brutally murdered at headquarters earlier in the season was Tazer’s mother, who he believed had simply left him. Meanwhile, missing girl Jasmine, whose case Dionne is investigating, has been imprisoned with the Organization, using her healing powers to treat wounded soldiers.
Also in captivity is Andre, the fifth person on Michael’s list of people who must help save Dionne from her fate. Desperate for money to see his son, Andre accepts Ray’s job offer to join the hooded group, who work for the Organization by bringing in suspects, including Michael’s team. This leads to the final battle at the Ashington Estate. Tazer and Sabrina set out to find gang leader Krazy, who is threatening their families. It is revealed that Krazy is the leader of the Organization’s hooded group, and that his superpower is the ability to absorb the powers of others. The other hooded figures are superpowered individuals working for the Organization, including Andre. Andre, witnessing the corruption, detours to Michael’s group and fights the hooded figures, who all die except Krazy. Feigning surrender, Krazy absorbs Rodney’s super-speed power and attacks the group, leaving them dead.
Michael uses his last bit of energy to travel back in time to the moment Krazy surrendered. Now knowing what is about to happen, he stabs Krazy, leaving him lying wounded on the ground seemingly dead. However, Krazy manages to fire his gun again and, while missing the staff, hits Dionne, fulfilling his destiny. A devastated Michael screams as he realizes that his energy is too low to use his time travel powers again. He then disappears into the night. The next scene takes place a few weeks later when the group reunites at Michael’s request. We learn that Sabrina’s sister Sharleen is still missing, Tazer is desperate to find out who killed his mother, and Andre reveals that his beloved son AJ is being groomed to become a member of the gang. Gathering the group together, Michael says he will travel to the future to get the answers they seek. However, he also seeks revenge on those who caused them pain. Perhaps Michael is not the hero we thought.

Supacell Post-Credits Scene Breakdown?
There is a post-credits scene in Supacell that comes after the final title card before the credits roll. We are transported back to the headquarters of the shadowy Organization, where one of the leaders, Ray (Eddie Marsan), walks among a group of superpowered black prisoners, including Sharleen (Rayxia Ojo), Sabrina’s sister, who is now in captivity. We see her crying in her cell. Ray enters a room to greet Krazy, who is recovering after the brutal battle seen at the beginning of the episode. He tells the villain, “That was close, Ray, I thought it was over.” Ray reveals that Krazy had “one breath left” when they found him. After thanking him for saving his life, Krazy asks, “What’s the boss saying?” Ray replies, “You can ask her yourself.” Enter Victoria (Siân Brooke), revealed as the head of the dangerous group.
This doesn’t bode well, as earlier in the show we saw her treating sickle cell patients in a clinic. Given that Brooke brilliantly portrayed the twisted sister Eurus Holmes in the hit BBC drama Sherlock, we probably should have seen her villainous arc coming here. Recognizing that Krazy is a liability, Victoria reminds him exactly what she did for him: “You remember I got you out of jail. You remember I let you sell your drugs. I saved your life multiple times.” Sensing her tone, Krazy asks for “one more chance” and begs for his life, but unfortunately, he is shot dead on Victoria’s orders. A shy Ray joins Victoria in the elevator, where she reminds him, “You know he’s not the only one who failed me.” Of course, he’s fully aware that she’s talking about him. Victoria concludes by saying that after letting Ray run things, it’s time to do things her way, which doesn’t bode well for Michael, whose profile is on her iPad. The final shot of Ray’s frightened face says it all as the vicious Victoria takes the reins.
