Max believes that the person controlling Vecna was Eleven, so she is determined to wait for him to rescue her in the cave. Vecna Does Not Want to Destroy the World. He Wants to Rewrite It?
Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 reveals the ultimate goal of Henry Creel: to merge the real world with the Abyss. He does not propose it as annihilation, but as total transformation. Operation Beanstalk: Steve, Dustin, Eleven and a Desperate Plan

When the radio tower passes through the crack, it will be your access road. Eleven will delve into Vecna’s mind to attack him from within. The rest of the group will try to climb the tower as if it were literally a giant bean plant. And Dustin, always the engineer who looks beyond the present, plans to plant a bomb to destroy the exotic material that holds the bridge between worlds. If it works, the Upside Down will disappear… along with anyone who can’t get out.

Max, Holly and Two Very Different Journeys Into Pain
Volume 2 has one of its emotional peaks in Max Mayfield. After two years in a coma, he wakes up.
